Re: Ford fiesta mk3 engines
no one else can tell you what to put in it...... It all depends on lots of factors!
firstly, how old are you and what sort of price do you want to pay for insurance?
secondly, what sort of power or form of engine do you want? (turbo or normally aspirated)
thirdly, what is your budget and are you going to do the work yourself or have it dont for you?
also have you considered other factors such as uprated brakes and suspension, also what year car that you currently have also plays a large factor in what engines are easier than others in fitting!
if you have a later (L onwards) CFi 1.1 then a zetec would be the most logical and cheapets step if you didnt want a cvh turbo, otherwise the easiets and cheapest swap in a none CFi 1.1 is to find a 1.6 CVH running a carb from an escort or xr2.

In all honesty it'll probably be cheaper to buy and insure a higher spec model 2i's si's rs's etc etc.
But if your set on an engine replacement, you could go zetec (1.6, 1.8,2ltr) a cvh 1600 turbo or a ZVH conversion ( Which is a 2ltr zetec bottom end with a 16cvh head, i believe)
Hope this helps
