I've got a cvh 8v (xr2i) and i want to put a 2 litre zetec bottom end onto the head. It's not turbo'd and i want to keep it that way. Would i be able to keep the original inlet manifold, uprate the injectors, fuel pump etc and still be able to get a high power output, i'm looking for around 160 - 170bhp. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated, Cheers

ok so let me straighten this in my head.

you want to make a zvh which, as far as i can see, has the only advantage of allowing you to use the rst's turbo gear. and you then want to keep it naturally aspirated. :-?

anyway yes it is possible but on the hole pointless. you may as well use the zetec head as it breathes better than the cvh one does. on a 2 litre block at any rate.

as above not really much point to it but it can be done, but for the hassle and what little your gain its not worth it.

may as well stick a 2litre in full zetec and then play with that to up the power

I know about the turbo conversions. We have got one at work 1.8 carbed mk2. I want to keep it n/a and keep the cvh head so that it continues to look origional. with this in mind do you still think that i can reach the bhp i desire, and if so any suggestions/recomendation. Cheers

well it will be a bit of a give away with a dip stick at the front.
as for reaching that power without a turbo, i guess if you got $hit loads of money it could be done if you really want, but it will cost you a mint and your prob need throttle bodies so its not gunna look standard

theres only so much you can do without having to change how the engine looks.

like jay said youd be needing a lot of gear to reach 170;
a serious cam
airfilter
cossie fuel pump
high flow injectors
exhaust (full system incl. manifold)
ported n polished head (stg 2 maybe 3)
remap

that lot might just tip you over the edge but its a lot of money.

anyway you do know that the xr2i was available with a zetec?i doubt your average joe (even if he is a mechanic) would be able to spot the difference between the two models they were fitted in. just something to think about.

Cheers edders, i've already got the complete exhaust ashley competition, Kent fast road cam, i did the work myself. and i would be re-building the bottom end on the zetec. Do you still think that my inlet manifold could take it.
