Front Brake Discs/Pads/Interior/Engine ( u name it )

Postby Devil on Sun Jun 01, 2008 6:50 pm

Hey again , ive decided to Completly Translate my Mk4 im only 18 so insurance is 2k at the moment with Uprated suspension /braided hoses new wishbones / antiroll bar links u name it its been replaced / been worked on. There is more i want to do like when im 21 ish i want to put a 1.6 ish into the car, but for the meantime im going all the way for exterior / interior . And putting strengh into the car.

So to start off with im going to try and sort my brakes out as thats the most important thing......!
ive Painted the calipers/Got stainless brake hoses for the front and the front discs were replaced
but they do get fkin hot and my pads are squeekkkyyyy even tho ive applied copper grease to the surrounds ect.
i noticed there is a chip on one pad which i dont like.
I was thinking about changing the Discs and Pads to mabe ebc Green stuff pads and not to sure on the discs tho

what would be the middle range price as im not rich lol spent too much on the car as it is....

Im looking to spend up to £50 on discs and £30 on pads . If the discs are more then that then il have to mabe replace them at a later time.

( Thanks for the replys in advance )

The pad compound is complete pap. I've got a video on YouTube of my brothers 165 converted FRST doing 4 light stops from 80mph and 1 hard attempted stop from 40mph. The pad overheated and smoked like mad.

Most people that rave about the Green Stuff pad simply have no experience of other pads to make a comparison. I've gone through several sets of their brakes and time and time again they've let me down.

Mintex 1144 or 1155 depending on your uses. Ferodo DS2500 is another of my fave pads but may be OTT for your application

My brothers last set of Greenstuff pads
