frst blowing dipstick out and oil cap off
right ive had a lot of issues with this car since i bought it, ive rebuilt the bottom end all new gaskets, bearings and piston rings and head has been serviced all new stem seals valves grinded in ect.. all parts inspected and reused where parts still good.
i rebuilt this in the first place due to the dipstick and oil cap blowing off and getting oil all over my engine bay and coating driveshaft and lower arm, ive done over 500 miles into my run in period and the dipstick still seems to work its way out on little boost so recently i gave it a bit more boost to about 4000rpm and the oil cap blew off again (didnt get that back as i must of drove over it as it was flat)
i need your help! is this my rings or something else, i compression checked all four cylinders and they all come in at 160psi give or take 2 to 3 psi per cylinder i would assume thats good result and healthy
mods im running is its 165 chipped and t3 conversion running full boost 10psi, blues and running this all on a standard breather pot seriously any help is apreciated as after rebuild and still having what seems to clearly be a blow by from boost, could it just be my breather system or is it my rings still
love this car but its so stressfull when it can cost so much money and still not be right

Hi chap have you got a 1 way valve fitted on the breather system? Should be fitted on the pipe from the inlet pipes to the breather pot, if there ain't one fitted when you hit boost the crank case pressure will massively increase blowing the cap off, if you have maybe blocked pipes on the breather system

If you have the standard oil separator, they sometimes block. Are you sure it is absolutely clean as also the hoses connected to it? If you have your doubts, take it off, clean it, and if it still does it I would buy a new one, and replace it. Even the simple one works, I am talking about this one:

I had it to mine for a couple of years without problems, it just don't have the one way valve on the separator to airfilter housing take off, compared to the RS turbo one. But it works fine and also noticed that it doesn't clog so easily as the RST one. I also agree with rich1987, you must find and install the oneway valve from the manifold to separator vacuum line. It causes positive pressure under boost to the camshaft cover and makes things worst. You can use any inline pcv one way vacuum. It must just let air pass from one side, not the other. You can't use the one way valves for the brake booster, they are too strong. But you can use something like that:

How tight is the oil filler cap as we used to replace loads of them due to blowing off and it was just down to worn seals, infact mine done it and renewed the cap and it stopped...

Re: frst blowing dipstick out and oil cap off
thanks guys so am i on the right lines to assume its breather related, right so when i did the rebuild which was only about 2 weeks ago now all the pipes were checked and cleaned before fitting so feel confident there not blocked and should be clear, i have a pcv valve fitted and believe its the right way round too as it sucks it open when the car idles then shuts when cars on boost, now my breather pot yesterday i actually took it off and blew through it just to see if it was free flowing enough, yeah i could blow air through but if im honest it seemed a bit restrictive when i know how much she can blow through on full boost from how high the oil cap would go if i had no bonnet, i was debating on just replacing it with a new as my breather pot is second hand and my breather system when i got the car was just a really massive catch can and ive returned to origional at a small cost, i do remember even with the large catch can it had before and the inlet manifold breather outlets was just bridged it popped the dipstick out then and the oil cap popped off when i first got the car but thats why ive given it a rebuild and new rings and the first time ive ever done it might i ad, if im honest ive got ptfe tape wrapped round the oil filler neck at the moment and my oil cap put on over that so it has a tight seal it seems to hold it for the moment but dipstick cant really stop that, probs good not too stop the dipstick until its able to breath properly as it could cause internal damage if i restrict the exits for now i suppose a spray of oil for now is safe rather than it blow through somewhere else, so does it fall down to in the end a good idea to try what georgiocat has suggested and im guna replace with new parts and hope they have a much better flow through thanks again all you guys your help is very apreciated

Turbo technics released a modified breather kit in the old days, relieves crankcase pressure when you run more boost.
