frst gearbox swap
hi the gearbox is on its last legs in my frst was wondering if anyone runs diesel box and what sort of effect this has on acceleration etc.. i know there os a lot of myths about them being stronger but then other people say they are not does anyone run one and what are they like as i have one in a scrap car at work. do they just straight swap i.e starter position etc...
also what oil; is recommended for frst 1600 cvh~???

Don't bother with diesel box. It stunts acceleration and will only give (in theory) a higher top speed. Many FRST's can't out rev the standard box so putting a taller geared box in is a non starter.
Stick a S2 RST box in as it will do everything you need and has the added bonus of having an LSD.
Too many people horlicks an RST by putting in a diesel box, don't be another
Engine oil wise I always run both of mine on Mobil1 Motorsport 15-50 as it's a true synthetic oil and not a hydracracked one
