FRST into 95' Si 16v Conversion???
FRST into 95' Si 16v Conversion???
Can it be done??
The reason I'm asking this, is that I'm thinking of buying an Si 16v, because, all round, they're in a better state than most of the FRST's today.
The Si's come better equipped (better interior, newer car, so parts are young and paintwork will be decent, PAS, C/L etc etc)
But I want the RST engine for the fun factor!
In all, how much work is involved, and how much on estimate, is it gonna cost?
Cheers.

It would be a major hassle, I was looking to do this before deciding to go to a 2 litre. Saves you having to mess around with the loom and engine mounts. I know I don't have a dump valve and the feel of the car boosting but it's plenty fun when it out performs standard RST's.

Guess you're asking about the mounts and loom Stoned? I still have my original mounts and loom, just a 2 litre ECU plugged in.

is a 2.0si faster than a RST?
also if a 2.0si runs a magnex system and induction kit and is chipped whats to be expected? all on the standard si gearbox? will the si clutch not be knackered with the added torque of 2.0?

For fun then FRST are better, the feel of boost and the sound of a dump valve are great. BUT, a 2.0 Si can be insured as a grp 8-9 car by companies such as HIC rather than 15 for an RST! 2.0 Si is more reliable and the Zetec engine is newer and stronger. 2.0 also has better fuel economy if you drive it right. Power is there straight away when you pull away with all that torque.
The sounds good enough, but I have found with my flowed head and inlet manifold taking in more air to make the engine noise a lot louder and sportier and when the cams come in to play it sounds excellent. Engine noise becomes louder that the exhaust. I will have to post a recording to show you all! it doesnt sound like a fiesta then and really turns peoples heads.
Don't get me all wrong though. I would still love an RST! but I won't pay stupid insurance prices when I can have the same performance for a lot cheaper!
