Frst = no spark =(
Alright peeps got a problem with the lady & it appears she wont spark, took a plug out & cranked her & nothing so I tested the plug connected to the coil pack & it seems to be getting 12 volts, on the 3 pins the top read 9.4-9.8v, middle 12v, lower 9.4-9.8v so I changed coil pack & this is where my dilemma is. The original coil pack had a code of A2A where the spares I have are AA & A1A is the pack on the turbo a model specific item? ie higher output so the spares dont supply enough voltage? & are they known to fail? At a bit of a loss as what else could cause no spark? Crank sensor maybe? Please Heeeeeeeeeelp

Re: Frst = no spark =(
sounds daft, but unplug the EDIS module, spray the contacts with some WD40, and reconnect it. Had an issue with mine when it wouldn't start and it turned out to be a little bit of corrosion on one of the contacts, it may well be something as ridiculously simple as that, so give it a go just incase

Re: Frst = no spark =(
Thats the thing chum im not sure if its model specific cos the others I tried are outwardly identical but slightly different part numbers The crank sensor had been a thought & if you've a spare going id gladly take ownership of it

Should be the same and work no matter if the part no is slightly different
Crank sensor is fubarrd by sounds of it ,sure you can check the resistance value to confirm its dead

Re: Frst = no spark =(
Yep still sticking with the trusty cvh matey lol that could be the problem ive replaced both the cps sensor & wiring before because of heat damage, the wirings been well protected with heat resistant coating & reflective tape & ive fabricated heatshields but the damage could have been done already. Thanks for the pics & whats the damage?

Is indeed Fezz though I pulled the fuse while I was checking for spark, don't want a load of fuel in there while I was doing it, but if it doesn't play ball soon it'll be getting a tenners worth of super unleaded & a match free of charge

Re: Frst = no spark =(
If it's chipped talent out and try it
I would say check the cps plug and make sure you haven't got a break in the wires from the cps to the edis, check continuity with a multi meter
Also check the fuses and clean the pins in the green relay just to rule it out

Can I just remove the chip.. or does the ECU need to reset or anything like that? Just asking..
How do I check the CPS's continuity?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Frst = no spark =(
Ignition off pull chip out, same
For refitting, disconnect battery for safety just in case
Basically pop the plug off the CPS and the plug off the edis and check the cable from one end to the other to see if there's a break.
Off the too of my head I think the wire colours are green and blue and green and yellow, but check the Haynes manual as I could be wrong as it's been a while since I check any cps

See photo.
I have stripped alot of the black electrical tape off, but as of yet i am unable to find the the other end of the yellow/green cable.

From memory
to test if the ckp is working ok follow these steps
ingnition off
disconect the cps sensor
check resistence on the cps terminals
should be 200-450 ohms
Also worth continuity testing the cps wires back to the ecu plug as they go brittle and suffer with breaks

Re: Frst = no spark =(
Did you manage to solve your problem? If not, a simple schematic of the EDIS is here:
http://www.fiestaturbo.com/forums/guide-edis4-schematic-vt178886/
Also I am sure that I have somewhere a way of testing the cps connected and powered, I will have a look and post it.You don't need to remove it.Ofcourse if you want to remove it to check it if it is broken, dirty etc etc then ok.
