Re: FRST Rebuild
Ok guy's. Been away all week on a trainning course, so on my way back home i stopped in to see the progress on the paint work as thats all thats been on my mind since last saturday(not good when learning a new gas qualification.. ) I am so made up with the end product, it looks amazingly shiny.
As you can see they are in the middle of polishing the passenger side but all in all its looking good, i was informed that they had to use about 5 coats to get the good finish. going down on saturday to put the running gear back on so it can come home and the rebuild starts....

No we turned it down aswell as it ment holiday would be harder to get as less people in etc. Pretty happy with 4 short days, work through lunch and be done by 3 so still plenty of light left at the end of the day to tinker with the car.
Might be able to get my hands on a loom. Would be the whole lot minus the engine loom. Has an alarm though so you might need to pick it out as i dont know if the key fob is in with it.

That would be a great help mate as my fuse box and loom seem to have so much bad/broken wiring thats been patched and bypassed by the previous owners, let me know if you can and how much inc postage if its not too much hassle and ill sort you out the funds..

Im joking...i can remember where most of it goes..but stay by your puter mate...my car looms not in good shape and if it dont work, i hear your a whizz with the lectrics.
Just a quick update. A few things done today, mainly putting front lights and indicators in and a few trims..Ive taken the rear beam, front wishbone mounts and engine cradle back off and they are going to be blasted and powder coated.
Im liking my temp bonnet prop, may keep it..start a trend.

Mate im so paranoid about working around the car, i wont let anybody near it, and a cover goes on after ive finished working on it...i think id have a nervous breakdown if anybody scratched it ..it has a few little imperfections but nothing you would spot unless you looked hard..

I got a favour to ask, has anybody got a spare boot latch with the lock/boot popper rod grommets in that they wouldnt mind parting with? i was a bit heavy handed with mine today and broke the small plastic grommets..gutted..or if anybody has had the same problem and has a solution any help would be appreciated.

Re: FRST Rebuild
Thought id update you guys n gals on progress..
Ive managed to get the car loom in with dashboard, steering rack and wheel..just need to test internal electrics as i think the looms a bit worse for wear and ive uncovered some horrors..
I also sprayed up the bulkhead finishing panels and the blower box, i really am likeing satin black against the red, it maybe a theme im gonna continue mixed with a little bit of chrome.
Also started on my petrol tank, silver hammerite smooth and then laquered, it looks awsome.
and i also fitted my uprated fuel pump into the cradle, just waiting for the tank to dry.
Have sent my back axle and front subframes/cradle off for blasting and powder coating in black with the ARB's in yellow hopefully it will look good aswell.

Re: FRST Rebuild
Looks well nice mate!!!
Im thinking of carrying on the theme of powdercoating my rear engine bulkhead panels, in 2 minds as to carry on with gloss black like the running gear or go for satin black ???...
Ive just finished knocking back and repainting my petrol tank aswell. Your slightly ahead of me, as ive got all the gear from the powdercoaters but havent had it painted yet. Ive decided to undershutlz my front vallance and carry the theme around the front arches under the side bodykit and up to the rear arches for extra water and rust protection, as it will be hidden with the bodykit and bumperss and then that all can get painted aswell in grey. What do you think to that???
Good work fella, are you gonna make Ford Fair for the novice concourse next to me???

nice mate.
insolation tape on them wires will come off within 10 mins of being in the tank, petrol will eat the glue and it will come off, best off removing it and using small cable ties

Im not a big fan of gloss black, altho i know my running gear is gonna come back like that...My thought behind the satin black is because its duller and the paint in the engine bay is new and shiny so its a good contrast..Im going to ford fair but im not confident enough to enter the car into any comps, as you know when your building one you know where all the faults are..for the moment i just wanna drive it and have some fun.

Re: FRST Rebuild
Bit of a quick update, Ive had a really mint day today altho it did sting my wallet a bit. Collected my running gear from powdercoaters.. and im really pleased with the finish..its not gloss black!! brill, its more a satin black with yellow ARB's...lovin it..Started putting my polybushes in.
I went along to my local Quick co (ford parts center) and the guy there was mint...got myself a full set of bolts front and back to put my suspension and running gear back on(all in all about 30 new bolts) new rear opening quarter window seals and a new boot rubber..I also put my aluminium window bolts on, but im not sure i like em, they might have to go back to black..(im sure thats a song title.. )
I also couldnt resist putting a stripe on the car, just to see how it would look.

Thats the way to do it. Im away from home 2 weeks at a time so the best I get is a couple of hours a fortnight to do any work to the car so with all that time in between you tend to forget where you was
