Have u recently changed the water? Could be an airlock?
If the engine is hot and u open the expansion bottle cap u will always get bubbles, it's the water boiling.
If there are bubbles coming from thermostat housing then you probs have a slight leak there.

If you have changed the water recently and it could be an air lock, what I do to solve this is brim the expansion tank with water and leave the cap off, engine on and allow to get to working temp whilst squeezing/pumping the main water hoses with ur hand now and then, if it is an airlock u will see bubble occasionally rise from header tank and the water in there should get *drunk* by the engine lol hope this helps.

As above if theres an air lock, then you will hear Bubbling in the cooling system and rubber pipes when you turn the car off. This also happens if there is a leak in any water hoses, allowing the water near the leak to "boil off at the point where the pressure is lower" ( as the cooling system works in a vacuum so water will boil at 22 degrees and not 100.)

What i always do after filling with new anti freeze and water is to get the car to in the Hot zone of the temp gauge then switch it off and gradually loosen the expansion tank cap.
Once the pressure dies down i leave it off for 24 hours so the air can escape. Then note the water level and top us as necessary. I think it might be because air can get hotter than water inside the system, maybe why the fan thinks it should come on!!. :D
