FUTURE CAR MEETS
After the Bluewater car meet, I just wana raise a few points, thats been spoke about by many people on my travels...These are widespead comments and arent just from myself.
When car meets are arranged on this site, does anyone ever think to inform the people whos property we are about to go onto and get written permission???
Does anyone inform the local Old Bill, that there might be a few cars turning up from all over the place???
Is there any need to keep going to Bluewater anymore, as all the people from the essex side made the effort to go there, but when it was changed to thurrock, the "other side" people didnt bother coming through the pipe and just went home!!!
Is this sight run by an actuall organiser anymore, or is just up to freestylers to organise events now, by this I mean anyone???
LASTLY ( i think )...How many FIESTA RS TURBOS are actually on this site????? Mine was the only one to go i think, at least to bluewater and back to thurrock. Ive heard alot of chat regarding changing the name of this site to Mk3.com and loosing the TURBO side of things. Nearly every time a FIESTA RS TURBO.COM meet happens its swamped by 1.1, 1.3. xr2i, si,mk4/5 normally aspirated fiestas.
DO NOT get me wrong, its good to see people having an interest, and turning up, which is good for the site, BUT WHERE ARE ALL THE TURBOS.......? surely mine aint the only one in the whole of the southern hemisphere???
I think people will have to agree, without proper cosher meets, we all just may aswell meet in southend on a sat night with everyone else....Small rant over.

Re: FUTURE CAR MEETS
Good point about getting permission, but I doubt it's a problem really as I'm sure none of us start wheelspinning around the carpark...
the guy who runs the site doesn't have a Fiesta any more (in fact, I don't think any of the admin/mod team have a Fiesta)
I think that the few members who take it upon themselves to arrange things do a great job. If anyone wants to organise something, there's nothing stopping them I suppose...
Lastly, if the site was restricted to just FRST's then it'd be a quiet place. The forum is much better when it's open to all and sundry. The FRST is getting rarer now, so those few that do turn up to the meets is a good sign. We can't exclude people just because they don't have a FRST - this isn't the RSOC
Plus, we can't change the name - I have keyrings to sell!

"Im sure most people know the story now. The meet WAS infact pre-aranged as such with the Centre management. However, as with the past three meets that i have been 'in charge' of arranging there, they have never once needed a 'letter' or 'contract' saying that we could use thier property. As it was explained to me by the police officer when i arrived, the management had recently chaned their policy (within the last two weeks, thanks to a local Corsa club acting up, and also the few mis-behaved drivers today didn't help anything) without informing me... they have had my details for the past 2+ years (Which they have contacted me on before) but a quick decision was made to get everyone who still wanted to go back to Thurrock Services, those who wanted to stay and shop did as they wished etc. But there was nothing else that could be done. Changing back the venue was the easiest thing to do, rather than turn away the rather dissapointed people who had travelled long distances to attend the meet.
Anyway, onward and upward though. After discussing solutions with Andie of FCGB, we came to the conclusion of a suitable new fixture for the 2009 onward meets. I shall contact the owners and go from there. It's a smallish pub with a large carpark in Kent just off the M25 seemed like a desirable option. They already host the local Skyline club meets along with others so i cant see it being a problem. Im also willing to travel down there to overcome any objections or problems with the owner to secure us a better venue. I think that the 'BW meet' has just outgrown Bluewater itself now."

I know i probably dont have to explain myself as the matter was beyond my control, but i hope to see you all at the next meeting in April '09 before the show season kicks off. To the thread poster, it was a UKFN organised meet that you was attending, i dont see why you are firing off issues about this site regarding the problems it may be experiencing. If you would also read the quote it explains the whose situation which lead to the change of plan. I dont have an answer about your rant about the meet not being held in Essex, feel free to start your own meet and pick a suitable location and organise everything yourself. It's alot more hard work than thinking of somewhere and posting it up you know The 'BW Meet' has been held since 2005 with no grumbles from anyone notable about the location of the meet.

Yeah good points made, and like i said everyone is welcome, that wasnt what I was aiming it at, It was aimed at all the RS Turbos out there...Where are you all??
Apart from thet, I think a good place needs to be sourced such as the boozer that was mentioned in the events section by someone off of the UKFN site.
Maybe Il av a look and sugeest a boozer with nice big car park, and see what people think???

think about the time of year mate. For instance, my XR2 is in the garage now - and it won't be coming out until April at the earliest. I know that a lot of FRST owners are doing the same.
If I were to come to a meet today, I'd be in the runaround for sure.

Does anyone inform the local Old Bill, that there might be a few cars turning up from all over the place???
Should we really have to, when we were doing nothing wrong?
Is there any need to keep going to Bluewater anymore, as all the people from the essex side made the effort to go there, but when it was changed to thurrock, the "other side" people didnt bother coming through the pipe and just went home!!!
The people from Fiestaturbo that were there, didn't go home infact we were the last people left at bluewater out of the cars that went there, we stayed and got something to eat as we didn't really fancy going to thurrock while everyone else would have been trying to get through the tunnel. We were going to turn up after we had got something to eat but before we planned to go, i phoned a few people up and they said they were either heading home after being at thurrock or didn't think it was worth paying £3 to just stand around and get wet, so had already gone home, so we saw no real point.
Is this sight run by an actuall organiser anymore, or is just up to freestylers to organise events now, by this I mean anyone???
There are no real organisers if someone fancies orgnaise a meet, then they can. There are members who have been here for a while who usually end up sorting out the larger things, like FITP and Ford Ford. I don't see the problem with the way things are.

There are quite a few RST on this site, but it doesn't mean they live all in the local area to Bluewater, plus the weather was wet and people don't like to bring there cars out in that sort of weather or they are wrapped up in garages for the winter months. There is also the fact that alot of RST owners aren't members of this site, or even known there was a meet happening.
Being one of these 1.1s you mention, i am not old enough to have a RST, nor afford it, if i could do you not think i would?
Out of interest, how many FT meets have you been to?
I don't mean to rant either but this thread annoyed me a little bit.

Agreed with Mike completely.
It's no ones perogative to organise these events so i'd be greatful that it happened at all same with this site. Adrian has paid for it out of his pocket for lots of years, and latterly with membership options, so there is a support base.
I was there in my FRST with the FT.com lot until about 2pm at bluewater.
Also, does it matter where people come from? Essex is hardly far away, I spoke to some straggelers who had come from Coventry and Cornwall, really felt gutted for them that they actually had made an effort to come down, essex and m25 east arn't the whole world lol.
If you feel strongly about these matters, why don't you take the initiative and organise stuff yourself?

Re: FUTURE CAR MEETS
Not a problem mate, i might just try and do summink. Ive got a few places in mind already.
The reason for letting the cozzers know is because any large gathering of people in a public place has to be watched over somewhat, for the general safety of innocent road users and members of the public, hence why ace cafe, lakeside cruise, chelsea cruise and other have been, in the past, shut down. The old bill now simply feel that as they dont know what is gonna go on then they WILL be there..FACT
If people had read the thread properly then i did say it was a general concensus from alot of people who have said the same thing, not just mje, but ive got the bollox to put a post up.
I read the wether report and it said it was gonna be dry, so I got theRS out of the garage where it had been since FITP. Granted the time of year is pony weather and pot luck, but the last two i attended was only me and a mate with our RSs out and the weather was pucka.
As for how many meets have I been to, well having owned my RS for nigh on 12 years, probably quite a few more than most mate.
If peoples cars are in the garage and people just wana come and chat then wel all take that view and just go out to a boozer and f@?ck the cars off then. It is meant to be some what of a "showing". I aint saying essex is far away and I was speaking to the cornish boys, and did feel for them.
Im not trying to start a playground argument. Id raise my hand and volunteer if anyone wants to join forces to make the meets more organised. Perhaps charge people a bit of dosh into a pub car park and give it to the location to keep em sweet.
As it happened roughly 40 odd cars went to thurrock where the rain stopped for an hour or so, till we all started going at around 4pm..
Lastly, the green fiesta trying to have a race with me onto the M25 from lakeside...Iwas only poodling along and didnt change into 4th when you raced past me, so you won....
So ther you go, the next one will be better, il speak to the chairman of FCGB and TRY and sort summink for a few mnths time...Maybe a joint stand at FITP...

Just for the record, I don't have an FRST, but have an XR2i that I have owned since 91. I come on here to help re FITP and to help on odd questions.
The FCGB have no chairman and were not yesterdays organisers, I am an official of the FCGB and helped Jamie with the magazine coverage via Neil at Fast Ford as I am also a member of UKFN. The UKFN meets at Bluewater were normally twice a year with the other one being before FITP. The pub I have suggested has a very large car park, although the pub is smallish. Nick ("dontpanic") knows the pub and it is used for car rallies. I think the RSOC have even used it in the past.
A joint stand for who at FITP? FT.com have their own stand and the FCGB as the show organisers have a stand and marque of their own.

Re: FUTURE CAR MEETS
Sorry to play on words, and not use the official terms. I did mean 'the git', and to speak to him. I was suggesting a joint meet where all fiestas from all different clubs attend, not fitp, as it is what is says, but wher everybody liases with other sites, so that we all know whos doing what.
This way, it will be a bit more organised, and there wnt be any breakdown in communication as to if its organised, etc. Correct me if im wrong but FCGB wont attend unorganised meets. If its official then together it could be made better for everyone.
Is the pub your talking about in Wrotham? cant remember name, if it is then i used to go there for the kent rs meets, quite a nice boozer.
Well ive said my piece, wernt meant to upset people, but I think it pssed alot of people off who came to find it was messed up, because of security, old bill, and whatever reasons. Maybe someone should organise an official ft.com fcgb, and ukfn meet after xmas??

Re: FUTURE CAR MEETS
Hi Guys
I to was at this meet and a little disapointed but these things happen.
I take it the pub you are talking about is the Moat at Wrotham if so the RSOC had to move from here due to a change in the pubs direction after a massive refit. Yes it was Kent RSOCs home for a good few years. But we have now moved to Brands !!!!! Why not talk to them they are very helpful and would give you the Kentagon to meet in but this would only be for Weekdays evenings due to the events that run at the weekends.
As people have already said i think most of the cars are now tucked up for the winter now so what about putting sunday behind us and look to do something in April 2009 that would give time for thing to be sorted out.

RS EDDIE :the "other side" people didnt bother coming through the pipe and just went home!!!
I would just like to make the point that after driving for 2 hours and using a tank of fuel in one day I didnt really fancy paying £3 to venture into essex and back and also I didn't JUST go to Bluewater for the meet but actually I quite like the shopping centre and had specific things I was looking for in the shops that day so why would I go "through the pipe". Not to mention the fact that actually I had a really good day with the few FT members who did stay at Bluewater (they didnt just go home).
AND if you look at the majority of the content of FT it's not aimed soley at RS turbos but actually at MK3 Fiestas, despite the name. So I apologise if my car isnt an RS and it offended you because of that!

I have suggested The Grasshopper at Westerham, I think the Surrey RSOC used it some time ago. Also, I have started the ball rolling re our telephone conversation about Brands tonight and see what comes from it.

I think Bluewater did lose out as a lot of people do go to the shops/food outlets and spend money, we just don't go for the cars.

Re: FUTURE CAR MEETS
When I used to go to Brands a few years ago with the Kent RSOC, They used to let a few people put a few mint cars actually inside the Pub as a sort of indoor showpiece. I think they had a few rs1600i in there a few times. Was great to see.
If they only do weekdays then it might be a little bit pointless in the winter as its very dark outside of the pub, to "show" cars. I wouldnt bother taking my car out now for a night meet. But if people just want to meet and av one beer then fine, but this could be achieved at any boozer during the winter.
If the majority of people on this site wana "show" their cars then, only a weekend meet or summer evening meet will be any good.
I think alot of people have commented on people having their cars wrapped up for the winter, and a few people have also mentioned going "SHOPPING" during a car meet!!!
Maybe this has put alot of people off for the time being. Me and about 6 or 7 other people certainly dont want to go shopping at a car meet and leave their cars in the middle of a shopping centre then come back to find scratches etc and dents made by people who only see an "old fiesta" next to them, when getting their prams out etc.
I think il only be going with my mates, if its properly organised, in a good location, where old bill aint just gonna turn people away. It defeats the object. And if I need shopping il stick to romford in my runaround 36,000 mile from new mk3, 1.3
Any solutions or ideas from others would be welcomed though.

Wiseman :I think Bluewater did lose out as a lot of people do go to the shops/food outlets and spend money, we just don't go for the cars.
Exactly what i said when we was there mate, as people would have ventured in there at some point, so by moving us on they lost money

Re: FUTURE CAR MEETS
i for pone had a cracking day, met upi with a load of mates, had a laugh, also enjoyed going through the tunnel, windows down with 6-7 othe fiesta's. ye, it was a shame we got moved on, but thurrok turned out ok, if more people had just spent the extra dosh and driven for 5 more ( if that) minutes, they wouldnt have been dissapointed. as for the person saying they drove for 2 hours, then couldnt be arsed to pay 3 quid to go under the tunnel...are you for real??????? it takes no time at all, so you drove 4 hours, wasted a lot of petty money cos you wouldnt pay £1.50 to go under the river?
well done to those who organised it, unlucky about bw, sh!t appens, i had a good one, cheers!!!
o...and i own a 1.1

RE FRST's turning up..
Most of them are tucked away for winter / away from poor weather so to be expected really!
You have to remember numbers are declining too, also lots of cars are in development etc as thats what people like to do with them!

Re: FUTURE CAR MEETS
Let me throw in my two cents here. I usually end up organising the FT Bluewater meets nowadays and its becoming less about the cars and more about the people. During one of the summer bluewater meets, we had 4/5 RST's, so they are out, but the salt on the roads and the wet conditions mean that a lot of people wont bother bringing the RST's out.
During the summer months I'll arrange some more Bluewater meets, maybe thurrock, or maybe somewhere completely different and publicise it a lot more so we get more interest.
MK3.com comments - to be honest it is bound to happen - the RST shares the same chassis and bodyshell as lower spec fiesta's so the majority of threads etc apply to all on this site. I don't se a point of changing the name, but if it happens it happens at the end of the day.
Because meets aren't organised the same as shows, you get a very select audience turning up, unfortunately not always do we get lots of FRST's.
You must understand that I can't say "South East Bluewater meet - RST's only", as, especially in the winter months, not many people would turn up. I organise these things and I don't have an RS! Added to that is the fact that there aren't that many RS Turbo's actually left- and if they are there's no guarantee that they will even be on this site. Even the tagline here is "the ultimate online fiesta modification resource", and nowhere on the site header or logo does it mention RS Turbo's only.

Re: FUTURE CAR MEETS
im all up for coming to the ft meets when i do not have work commitments and the rs does come ou whatever the weather for meets.
i dont mind paying the money for either side of the tunnel, and am quite happy to travel as meets are always a laugh. normally at mikeys expense
yeah fair comment on asking permission, something ive never though of bu never organised eiher so didnt cross my mind!
dont think the site should change its name or it wouldnt be worth being on. fiesta1.1.com doesnt have quite the same ring to it

Also seems these days their is no commitment, alot of meets now, people dont turn up and the cruise seen has totally changed!, alot of it now is people with cash and just taking their cars to a garage to get it modded!.. used to goto southend probably twice a month from oxford, and normally a big turn out of people from ft!, no idea what its like now! bring back the phatman partyssss!

Re: FUTURE CAR MEETS
there are alot of Rs turbos on this site.
But you will find you wont get them all together at once as they need restoration or rebuilding. Or as said they are tucked away for winter etc.
I use mine as a daily commute and am finding it hard enough to find petrol money to get to work let alone spending £30 going to bluewater etc to chat about cars. Plus my engine + gearbox wont make that sort of trip atm...
As for changing the name to suit lower spec models. It wont happen. This site has grown to be so popular especially to overseas members

Re: FUTURE CAR MEETS
Personally i dont think its relevant what cars people come to meets in. Its not a show. Which is why i dont mind turning up sometimes in the runaround. Its more about the people for me.
The idea of having meets at brands hatch or a pub sounds promising though
