mk3modda :nice spec :Q makes me wanna build one. how much (if you dont mind me asking) did the engine and management cost you all in all?

Well I have a mate who does all the work for me at mates rates - Lee @ Devil Developments

But parts wise it has cost me roughly:
pistons & Rods from states - £600
Turbo - £800
Ex Manifold - £200
In Manifold - £200
Injectors - £100
Management - £1000 - this is ready for a variable antilag & launch control to be wired up sometime in the summer!!!
Plus all the little bits & fabrication/engineering work - probably about £4k at a stab in the dark

The bodywork cost me about £1k for panels/labour and a full respray which is a bargain I thought.

Well me and the Fiesta have had a bit of a rocky relationship this week, full of ups and downs....
Firstly my RS accessory clusters arrived from Germany (£59.50 delivered - what a bargain) and they were minty mint so I fitted them and I was in love. Next came my stickers that I had made up, I'm undecided if they would look better a bit bigger, but I wanted them to be subtle, now we are getting on great. Had a session doing a final map and she was like a rocket, the best it's been for a while.

Then, driving to work and @~#"CRUNCH!!!"*% that will be 3rd gear destroyed. OK I thought, as long as I can get to work and then home again I'll be alright, on the way home it gets stuck in 2nd gear which is a real pain in the ass. Trust me you wouldn't want to go too far only in 2nd gear, it can be quite noisy! Handily my car does 60 in 2nd quite comfortably so I didn't hold too many people up!! I have an uprated box with longer ratios and an uprated ford diff - apparently this is a similar spec to the CTS stage 2 box!! (She was going well)

Now we are back on speaking terms as I have picked up a stage 3 fully gasflowed/ported/younameitshadit head with some custom zetec turbo spec cams from Cat Cams, complete with vernier pulleys etc - "Nice" I hear you say. But wait, don't put the credit card away yet!!! Also coming this weekend is a quaife gearbox with quaife diff and gearkit accompanied by a brand spankin AP paddle clutch.

I will update with pics and progress at the weekend....to be continued

excellent mate, the gearbox should sort it out, and the head will be a nice addition to an already very high spec'd zetec 8) 8) 8)

Well hopefully the box will take all I can throw at it! The head was used on my mates 400bhp zetec turbo so I reckon I should be pushing a bit more than that (bigger turbo/injectors etc). I don't really know that theres much more to do engine wise now. I'm going to get an electronic boost controller, maybe a bit of aquamist, maybe air injectors, definately anti lag and launch control. Any suggestions?

What sort of bhp do you reckon the spec should make? Hopefully I'll get it RR'd before FITP.

Do you know if it's still possible to get on the FT stand at FITP? This is the first time i feel my car is really up to it.

it all depen ds on how good the person is mapping it? but i reckon high 300's is a real possibilty depnding on how well it all works together maybe more but i ve never built a zetec so not shore but there are some huge power'd zetecs floating around!

That badge looks a little lost on the back there, but a bit bigger would look alright i think.

Other than that, the looks are spot on and it's definately not going to be slow! :aviator:

Well, i picked up my gearbox on saturday, from Wrexham, 265miles away. Took all day as we stopped at Burton Power in Essex on the way to get a new AP 4 paddle clutch, then we went to stanstead to pick up an exhaust manifold for my mate so it was hell of a day. I think it was worth it though, the gearbox really sounds awesome and its very tight, totally transformed the car.

Those are the pictures from the ebay ad you may have seen it, I gave £1400 for the box which I thought was a good price.

I'll get some pictures of the stage 3 big valve head we put on yesterday with new Cat Cams & Verniers aswell. I'm out tonight for a live mapping session and to wind the boost up to 2 bar!!! Hold on to your hats!

Cheers mate.

Been out for a spin in the old girl tonight, the ratios on the box are pretty short, and with the new head it goes like a missile!! :D You hit the sound barrier before you can say "f**k me that's Fast!!!" excuse my French. Can't wait to see what 1/4 mile time it does.

I thought the quaife box was more than up to the job and cheaper than a CTS stg2+ which only has standard shot peened gears and they don't whine!

I'm on full boost (17psi) by 3500rpm, if you have a good map like mine the boost is at 10psi literally as soon as you boot it. When you're giving it some beans the boost only drops to around 10psi when changing gear (speed shifting) :D

Cheers for the comments guys.

Cheers for the comments guys, I spent most of the day cleaning her today and I took plenty of pics so I will get them up in a minute....also a few updates from a busy weekend.

Yeah the lights were mint when they arrived and they were still in the original box, which was cool I thought. I haven't touched the fog/reverse wiring yet but I do plan to sort it out soon though. I got the stickers made up locally, just went in and told them what i wanted and they did it.

Stuart, I am in fact selling the old lights mate, give us a pm and we can sort something out.

Thanks for the comments, I do like the way it sounds but, this gearbox has a really low final drive so it's a bit like driving a four speed at the moment. Once I get some funds together I will change that :)

Worked on getting the bay looking better last week, welded in the front strut brace, sealed it up and painted it along with the rocker cover, plug cover and oil breather. The paint we used was some direct gloss the same as the outside with a bit of texturiser (sp?) added I think it looks pretty cool, let me know what you reckon. :Q
