gear ratios ??

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Hi,

I'm looking for the exact gear ratios of the gearboxes which were used with the following engines:

1,6 ltr CVH (Fiesta, 76 kW, 104 hp)
1,6 ltr CVH RS-Turbo (Fiesta)
1,6 ltr CVH RS-Turbo (Escort)
1,8 ltr DOHC (Fiesta 77 kW, 105 hp)

Ford germany is not able to give me any information on the RS-Turbo gearboxes, because they were not sold in Gerrmany. :sad:

Is there anyone able to help me with those gear ratios ? Please E-Mail me... fiesta4ever@gmx.de

Thanks,
Sascha

Fiesta Turbo & Escort Turbo gearbox ratios :

1st = 3.15
2nd = 1.91
3rd = 1.28
4th = 0.95
5th = 0.76

final drive ratio = 3.82:1

as for the 1.6 ltr cvh (i guess that is the XR2i) it is exactly the same except for 5th which is shorter. I dont know about the 1.8 ltr DOHC which i guess would be the XR2i 16v.

cheers :smile:

OK, Thanks, this is exactly the information I was looking for...
What about the reverse gear ? *lol*

Btw... I heard the Escort Turbo gearbox has a differential lock which the Fiesta Turbo gearbox doesn't have. Is that true ?

lol @ reverse gear :wink: :grin:

Yes the Escort RS turbo came with viscous coupled limited slip differential (LSD).....the Fiesta RS turbo never got one :sad:

but you can easily swap the Fiesta gearbox for an Escort gearbox :smile:

cheers :smile:

Are there any differences in the drive shafts
(I hope my dictionary told me the correct translation) ?
Do you use the original Fiesta shafts ore the ones from the Escort gearbox... ?

driveshafts are the same but you'll need to swap the mountings over from the fezzy box to the escort box.
Also, I've heard the escort turbo box has a longer 5th gear.

erm...did i not post the ratios above.....they are the same as per Ford literature.

The Fiesta RS Turbo was also sold as the XR2i turbo, or just Fiesta Turbo in some European countries.
