Postby chrisxr2it3 on Sat May 25, 2013 9:02 pm

I fitted my selector back in my car today but found a had next to no movment so couldn't select gears after I removed the selector bar from the gearbox I found it was the selector bar on the box that wouldn't move, the gearbox was given a freshen up about 6 months ago but not fitted its been stored in the position it would be as fitted in the car although it was upright for a while when it was painted is their somthing that could of slipped out of place due to movment or maybe seized? Any help much appreatiated

I would get a screwdriver in the hole on the selector shaft on the gearbox and try and get the gears, if it feels like its hitting something and just won't move, it could be a internal problem, and my first though would be the gate inside the box, when rebuilding its easy to overlook the shaft has to be in position in that gate, if its not the pin on the shaft stops its moving, I'm not explaining it very well but if you have seen inside the box your know what I mean mate
