whats gearbox can i put on my xr2i 1.6 from another car to increase top end i dont want to lose accelaration though

I think you will find that your gearbox can (with the right engine) go faster than your current engine. I know Ford are known for stupid things, but making a gearbox that can't handle the top speed of their engine is rediculous.

You'll never get your 1.6 n/a CVH to run out of gearing at the top end. I couldn't manage it with my old 130bhp one. If you put a taller final drive in the engine won't have the power to pull it through the gear.

To get more power out of your xr2i you will need performance cam and uprated head s/s exhaust air filter followed up with good plugs and leads

got all above apart from cam and head work

whats best cam kent/piper model and what work do u recomend doing to the head

Ashley manifold and proper stainless custom built exhaust (not PowerShonk)
Polished ported and generally tinkered cylinder head
Raised compression.
Piper cam
Vernier pulley (dialled in)
Chip
K&N
Fuel pump

Made a smidge over 130bhp on the dyno at PTS just after it was built. :Q
Was a sad day when a peckerston in a BMW drove into the back of it. :( Mind you have the FRST now so onwards and upwards
