hi guys just looking for some suggestions really.
i have a xr2i 16v but my gearbox has just recently knackered today.
im wanting a better gearbox than my original.
quicker from the mark and possible better top end ect..
what gearboxes would fit my exact car ?

also im going to get a high performance clutch fitted but my original xr2i gearbox seemed a bit sluggish lol :D

There is no need for a high performance clutch really in a standard 2i but if you want to spend more money then thats up to you. There are two boxes that came on zetec engined fiestas, short and long ratio. Being a 2i I would suggest you have the long ratio box. If you get an Si box that is the short ratio and will max out at 6000rpm @ 122mph.

If you want my opinion though, for what's worth, the difference in acceleration is slight and you would benefit from replacing with the long ratio box by better fuel economy and also lower rev's at speed. However the best option is to go for an ERST box because you get the long ratios and also an LSD.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

Standard clutch will be fine unless you want to throw your money away. It's the same item as used in a FRST and they survive moderate hikes and develop a gob more torque than the 2i. Just ensure you buy a good one and not an EBC or Black Diamond kit

Had a Helix kit in my S2 for about 6 years now. STill good as gold without a sniff of slip. Not nice to use though.

Very heavy in use and the feel isn't great. My left leg was killing me the other year after stopping and starting in the queue to enter Fiesta in The Park.
