GMAX SUSPENSION KIT

Postby Brian on Mon Nov 10, 2003 1:17 pm

If a full G-Max suspension kit for a Fiesta Mk3 lowers by 35mm (40-FO-15 i think) and a different full G-Max suspension kit for a Mk3 XR2i lowers by 35mm, do they lower the same?

Note: the kits are both Mk3 and not Mk3.5.

The reason i ask is that XR2i's a already lower than standard fiesta's, so i was wondering if anyone knew how G-Max measured the drop.

It's only the RS Turbo that has the 25mm drop.

Fiestaturbo.com :The RST's suspension was 1" lower than the XR2i, with shorter dampers on the rear, and the addition of a rear anti-roll bar.

oh right, the only thing i dont get is that suspension kits are usually sold for mk3 (exc. xr2i and frst) and then mk3 - xr21 & frst.

40 FO 12 - Suspension Kit for Fiesta XR2i/Turbo/RS 1800

Year of manufacture: 90-10.93.
Chassis Type: GFJ.
Lowers the car by: 35mm (Measured against the original ride height of the vehicle when new).

40 FO 15 - Suspension Kit for Fiesta III excluding 1.6Si/XR2i/Turbo/RS1800/Van

Year of manufacture: 1.89-1.94.
Chassis Type: GFJ.
Lowers the car by: 35mm (Measured against the original ride height of the vehicle when new).

any ideas?

The reason i asked is i currently have -35mm gmax springs on standard dampers, but wanted to upgrade to full -35mm gmax kit for xr2i for extra strength dampers, want to do engine conversion.

Will the drop be the same if i change my suspension?? I have limited clearance you see. Also what will the handling characteristics be in comparison, will the kit compress less over sudden bumps?

so, in that case it would not lower an frst by 35mm, only the xr2i??

Anti roll bars play a big part,

1 of my drop link ball joints give up a while back, so i had a anti roll bar but it scrubbed like fook, couldnt go round corners over like 20mph without gettin scrubbing,
as soon as i fixed it i could go round roundabouts at 60 with no scrubbing at all,
So yes the anti roll bars are there to help the extra weight of the bigger engines,
