got a xr2i 16v donor car, help

Postby RS rob on Thu Mar 18, 2004 8:14 pm

my 1.1 has had a bump but while its being repaired, i've got a xr2i 16v for parts etc

what do you lot reccomend i get off the car before i scrap it?

so far, the list is:
1. shocks and springs, cos their gas rather than oil, and stiffer while being 25mm lower

2. the front and rear breaks (bigger and better) do i need to change the brake servo for this? or just a case of different calipers and drums etc??

anything else i should have on the list???
or if i've got anything wrong please correct me,

cheers

get the anti roll bars too, and you migh as well have the loom etc out of it while youve got the tools out!
the glass on 2is is slightly green tinted, looks better than plain 1.1 glass.

I think the servos are the same but dont quote me on it.. the calipers are identical other than the xr2i ones being wider to accomodate the vented disks, the piston size is the same so you shouldnt need to swap servos.

don't think the 1.1 shocks have the proper mounting point, but if you swap the shocks over the ARB will fit.

Also I forget the proper name for it but there's an 'S' shaped bar that strengthens up the front, put that on aswell if ya got nowt else to do :D

the servo should be slightly bigger on a higer spec model!

also if you are dropping the engine in then if your car isnt a cfi 1.1 you will need to swap the looms, you will defo need to swap the engine bay loom over regardess of interior loom!

also the fuel tank and pump will be needed! like what was said, if its a mk3.5 u can fit the black interior! oh and u can fit the front seat belt height adjustors!

Yes straight swap, but buy new brake pads and discs.
In any case, you have Haynes manual :D

Are you gonna strip the bumpers bodykit spoiler etc to resell?
And may I suggest keeping the small misc items, such as headlights, in case you need them one day for your 1.1.

The S shaped tray should be a straight swap, some of the holes in the wishbones might not be threaded in the 1.1 but shouldnt be too much cause to worry.

You can put 2i calipers straight on a 1.0/1.1 cylinder, did this with mine and its been absolutely fine.

The ARB goes on the shockers, and also on the wishbones so you might want to take them off the 2i as well.
