Green induction kit - any difference to standard?

Postby heeman10 on Tue Jan 21, 2003 6:08 pm

I've found that Green filters are the only people who do an induction kit for my diesel (ahem!) Mk3, £65. Is it worth the money? Is there any noticeable difference? I don't know if a diesel will show the same improvements as a petrol might... :-? And do I need to do anything else, or just stick it on and let it go? lol

you wouldnt see any noticible power gain, you would probably get a induction noise i.e the air sucking in through the induction kit, but that would be it.

If you fancy the sound and are prepared for a bit of DIY, get it and place it where it can pick up cold air (having it sucking hot air will lose you power). This will only get you a bit of induction roar. If you're after performance, you should also have your fuel pump tweaked in order to take advantage of the higher air flow... that should push your bhp and lbft figures a little bit up.

Yeah I had some cold feed ducting in mind, but I think over all, on an engine like the 1.8 diesel, any gains are going to pretty much unnoticeable, other than cosmetic looks! Thanks for the advice tho. :)

Cheeky newbie :P I've said this loads of times, but I like my diesel now! It's more powerful and torquey than 1.1s, and rarely goes under 50mpg, that's in town driving and 85mph motorway driving, so I'm very happy with it. And now it has the looks too, so nope, I'll stick with it thanks!
