Re:Polo GTI - Clayed 8/6/10

Postby Minstral on Tue Jun 08, 2010 12:52 pm

after the first detailing session the car had i decided i wanted to clay it having never even seen the results of a clay bar beforeand used one. so i bought a meg's clay kit cheap at fiesta in the park. i would highly recommend it to anyone as it takes off all the tuff bits of road grime that dont want to come off normally when washing and leaves the paint so smooth. as its never been done before the was 10 years of grime so took me about 3 hours  but when it comes to doing it again wont take any where near that amount of time. i didnt use any polish or wax after this just using the wuick detailer that came with the kit. i meant to polish it after but just ran out of time.
these are the result's - before after a wash shampoo and dryed

and the worst of the grime as always by the arches

Has come out really well with the clay.

Definately needs new plates. Try craigsplates.co.uk or something like that, quite cheap and arrive quickly.

New wheels will definately suit it when they are done.

You/we doing edition?

Whats wrong with the plates? :-?

If you kept the old clay bars you should use them on your wheels and windows.

cant wait steve. edition will be immense :bonkers:

once the new wheels are sorted can drop it a bit more.

i look at the height and go its low but just doesnt seem that low as i can still clear all speed bumps apart from big ones when it scrapes, but i went to a polo meet at bluewater on sunday, and mine was the lowest there

Re: Polo GTI - Few bits + did someone say Porsche 30/6/10

Postby Minstral on Wed Jun 30, 2010 9:13 pm

bought a few things going cheap at tesco yesterday
some new wipers as mine are rubbish so thought id go for the areo wipers try them out see if they are any better, and they do look better, and some tyreweld was going cheap so bought that as when i bought the car it didnt come with a jack for the spare or a wheel brace.
Image
old wipers, found that my old ones someone had put a 21" and a 19". worked fine but put them both back to the right size
Image
new wipers
Image

the main news(was going to keep it a secret until they are finished but cant be othered now). i bought a set of 5 teledials for £100 a month or 2 ago, all need a refurb and centre caps which i have already sourced but cant moan for that price. sizes are fronts 6J rears 7J, the spare is still totaly original with original tractor tyre and centre cap. no curbage on them at all.also found another bargain on ebay on sunday a full set of brand new 20mm hubcentric adaptors for the awesome price of £93 posted!
Image
so straight on to see how the wheels sit
rears sit perfect it appers
Image
Image
Image
fronts look to poke a bit more than the rear but the wheels were slightly pointing left so will probably sit fine
Image
Image
Image

this month should see some paint but also need lower arm bushes doing.

i couldnt work out how to fit them at first either. they should fit the fiesta aaron as the polo has the same style connection to the wiper.

dont look bad in the cream but think will look better in anthraccite or black, did get some porsche caps as well not orignal teledials slightly newer in style but think they look better, not sure on tyres yet some thingk like 165/50 on front and either 175/50 or 55.

that looks sick steve
i wouldnt polish the dish though have to think about the cream now
think those teledials are the ones with more dish they can go up to 8j and the later versions were slightly different to give more dish. mine dont really have that much so wont polish them. if i had more dish i probably would. may polish the wheel bolts though :bonkers:

looks nice im not a fan of the smoothed bumpers on the 6n2

jonyb4 :how come your gonna use such small tyres?

jon when a lot of cars run very low ride height but wide wheels or spaced out like mine will be if i ran normal 195/45 or similar they would just hit the arch. so people get a small width and wall so that the tyre is stretched and leaves room to go low without hitting the arch. some people have crazy stretch actually able to see the middle of the wheels sometimes like one the edge of the rim, but it think that looks stupid. so i just want slight stretch, plus it looks god very slight imo

Re: GTI - Porsche wheels painted & on 25/7/10

Postby Minstral on Sun Jul 25, 2010 7:46 pm

picked the wheels up on tuesday but havent had a chance to get any pics or fit them. all i had done was polish and was them when i could. so a free day today i trialed them as i havent got any locking bolts for the alloys yet. i went for gloss black in the end with the badge left as it was just sprayed around the edge of it. for those asking about stretch earlier same pics below to show what it means. i went for brigestoen potenza's with 165/50's all round on 6J at the front and 7J on the rear. forgot to stick the centre caps in ive realised  mainly because they werent fitting tight so ive been working on them to properly sit in and stay in
these pics look high obviously because i had to jack it up and still needed to settle. when i come to fit them tuesday i will sort the height out properly. ie lower!
Image
the rear

the fronts, they actually make use of the rim protector, just!

personally i love it and has come out better than i could have imagined, think it looks really stealthy and complements the other black bits on the car.
there is a german car meet ar brands on wednesday so they will be all on by then and ill get some decent pics
what ya think?
