(Guide) 2i loom to FRST OFAC and OFAB Pin Changes

Just to say that not having the supressor wont harm anything, and most of the top tuners take these out and hard wire the MAP sensor in when they map your car. Aparently it makes the signal stronger to the ECU and it will make things work a little faster... ie the signal is alot stronger so you the senor can relay the signal to the ECU faster causing the ECU to do what it needs to quicker (must be talking mili secs) but aparently it makes a difference (Dont hold me to that but its only what i have been told).
Oh and nice update Scort you are spot on with those wire and pin outs.
As I have always said check everything corellates by using a buzzer or a multimeter before doing any of this. I cant be held responsible for you ECU going funlumps up.

so if i do these pin changes on my xr2i it would run like a frst with out changing the wiring loom and ecu. I have only putted a turbo in it and its going crazy at 0.4 bar ore do I need a full wiering loom end frst ecu?

The charge air temp sensor is already on the 2i. (on the side of the intake manifold(white plug)
If using the OFAC system, you need another sensor with a reduction ring because this sensor has a different thread.
This sensor also has another plug on it(smaller) but this can be had at any scrappy.

To clarify the Air sensor issue (IAT) you will need the FRST sensor no matter what you use eiter OFAB or OFAC. I will be getting the finnis number later. But all you need to do is solder on a std two pin plug just like the ones that connect to oval side indicators.

Errrm yeh it should still work if pin 2 is left in, im not sure it actually feeds anything in a Turbo ECU. If you look at the FRST wiring digs it shows pin 2 is not needed and only needed on N/A cars. Not sure what it does Scort may be able to give a better answer to your question on what will happen...

Hi. Some of you may know me and a friend have been putting a FRST engine in a MK5 Escort.
We got everything working fine and took it to the rolling road on Friday to get everything checked over.
We had a problem in that the CO was 8% and adjusting the potentiometer did nothing. The car also was pinky very very slightly at only 10psi!! .
So basically very rich on idle and leaning badly out higher up the range.
Something that is also strange out of 3 runs at 10psi it only pinked once??
Now here comes the bit as to why i have posted in this thread.
The car originally had a 2i lump in it and i did the wire changes stated in this guide. We have a OFAC brain.
After Friday i could not understand why this would happen and started reading the rest of this thread.
I then moved pin 27 back to 8 and the car seems to be more happy and seems to idle much more stable. I am just wondering what this pin does
-
2) Pin no. 45 (brown/yellow) needs moving to pin 27 - this is for the MAP sensor.
And should i change it back

Hi.
i was just wondering about the following Pin 4: Pin 20 (ECU) Current return..where would that wire be connected too as im currently trying to do a conversion on a mk6 escort and that wire has me a bit baffled..Thanks.
Pin 1: Ignition Live
Pin 2: Pin 22 (ECU) to the Fuel Pump Relay
Pin 3: Fed From DIS coil pack to the Rev counter
Pin 4: Pin 20 (ECU) Current return
Pin 5: Pins 57 & 37 (ECU) to the Fuel injection Relay
Pin 6: Oil Pressure
Pin 7: B+ (Constant Live)

Re: (Guide) 2i loom to FRST OFAC and OFAB Pin Changes
Hi well i'm a newbie anyways i just recently done an xr2i to rs turbo conversion which i regret badly anyways im having trouble with it i brought the engine complete with OFAC ecu and map sensor and basically i was told that i can just plug and play i then done research to find you cant didnt know about pin changes at the time my xr2i was running OFAB so basically i stripped out the wiring loom and replaced it with an OFAC loom i connected all together to find it still wont run but out of pure curiosity i connected my xr2i OFAB ecu on to OFAC wiring loom to find it started and idled, i have two queries 1. if i convert my xr2i loom to OFAC and connect the ECU will it start idle and run ok 2. with the OFAC wiring loom in and the xr2i OFAB ecu connected will it run like an rs turbo or is the ECU not programmed to run turbo I.E. Boost please reply and help me out with this fault i have spent hours trying to figure it out spent hundreds for parts which aint made a difference and its just sitting out side collecting rain and bird poo lol

OFAB related question (Just a clear out :) )
Hello people. As many of you may know I bought a fezt engine with OFAB management and all the relevant stuff for my Escort Mk5b.The previous owner of the engine as far as I know was running at the begining with the OFAB and then went to parallel ECU and at the end at MS.I unwrapped the loom,(I am an electrician on business),and doublechecked everything. All is fine but I am troubled at a point. The previous posts was really helpfull and really cut down the time of transplant from my previous loom. But I stuck at a point.I have only two questions.First one:Is the current return from ecu going to earth? And second...I have no1 pin on edis plug cut.Is it needed for running?I read that pin 2 is not needed but the previous owner has cut the no1 also.I am thinking of reconnect it again.Should I?As far as I know, pin 1 is PIP,it is needed for ECU to understand that the engine is rotating and start injecting.Am I right? Please answer if you can, cause this week I want to finish it ;) Thanx a lot for your time, this thread is a real treasure,IMHO...

Re: (Guide) 2i loom to FRST OFAC and OFAB Pin Changes
No one...? Well, today I started the looms interchange and connecting...I will try pin 1...Fingers crossed nothing bad will happen...I wouldn't afford it...And something last...On my previous loom(that is the Escort one),it had the carbon canister connected. Is there any case I can drive it with the OFAB?Anyone who has done it?

Re: (Guide) 2i loom to FRST OFAC and OFAB Pin Changes
Well, nothing here too...Anyway,loom is connected now and working fine.Car starts up at once, idling fine and revving fine.Current return is the earth, since nobody answered my questions,I thought I maybe say that.Also...If you don't connect pin 1 of EDIS to the ECU,engine will never start up.You will have spark but injectors will not fire.Pin 1 sends a series of pulses to the ecu,and judging from that I guess it understands some parameters of the engine, and one of them is that it needs fuel.Perhaps you could use that for immobilizer also ;) I have to say that although I run an OFAB system,I don't use a map supressor. My loom hasn't the connector for it,but the most strange is that no one here in Greece know the existence of it...I guess they never sold them!!lol.Fingers crossed,I really really hope not to burn anything due to it's absent...Is there any way of knowing if my loom is a converted one,or a genuine OFAB loom? The map connector was not replaced,it goes straight to the ECU plug.Any ideas?Also...Can I use the purge canister with OFAB?Anyone...?
