Guide: fitting a 2.0 Focus inlet manifold LINK EDITED

Good stuff, if it does then it will answer one of my problems.
The 1.6 is at the front but the throttle body on the right hand side of the engine so making it do a U-turn to the throttle body at the back would probably not much different length wise.

xr2i one has smaller ports, rs1800 manifold has larger ports so flows better than xr2i and the focus one flows better again. So yes is better

XR2i 1800 and RS1800 is the same manifold mate. I know this because I got my mate at ford to do a part check and there the same one.
What I want to see is the power gain avanages of using this one.

and finally can someone define what is needed for this mod,
what fits easy, what does'nt
the exact parts you need etc
as there's too many if, ands and but's in this
i'd like to do this right first time

1.8/2.0 Focus inlet (Both the same), 2 wiringplugs off the focus wiringloom (I have listed which ones in the guide), Focus inlet bolts, fuelpipe, fuel connectors, vacuum hose
- so am i using the focus TB?? or does the mondeo one go straight on and save changing throttle cables?
- what fuel pipe am i using? a certain ford item from the focus?
- same for fuel connectors
and any vaccum hose will do?
the reason i want to know absolutely everything is so that i can buy all the bits before hand, rather than poping out driving around looking for parts while in the middle of it cos you've got the wrong part lol

bridgend_boy :- so am i using the focus TB?? or does the mondeo one go straight on and save changing throttle cables?
Focus TB, rhinopower claims the mondeo one works - speak to him as I never used it
- what fuel pipe am i using? a certain ford item from the focus?
Use fuelpipe, availible from Halfords for around £10, take a fuel connector so you know the correct bore
- same for fuel connectors
Use the 1.6 fuel connectors (2.0 should fit but mine leaked, maybe they dont fit that good so use 1.6 connector
and any vaccum hose will do?
Vacuum hose is vacuum hose - again availible from Halfords just make sure you get the correct bore

Well mine works fine and iv listed all the parts needed, its you thats confusing matters by mentioning Mondeo TBs etc. Follow the guide, you cant go wrong

Mate that looks like the 1.6 one vs the 1.8 one. I would like both code from ford and I will ring my mate double check sorry to be a pain if that the case I will kill him.

just wish there were more pics in your guide and maybe some of the final result.
its very hard to understand all this cos i have never seen a focus inlet/manifold and hose setup before.
1 question, what induction kit do i buy for this? focus? do i need any of the original air hoses for this?
thanks

What does it matter? I have shown pics of all the things needed to be swapped and where they go. 2secs and I'll put up a pic of the finished thing - Oh and you'll need the focus induction kit since your using focus induction

its a pain, but does anyone know the bores of he pipes mentioned? I have the 1.6 si atm, but will be putting tis on with the 2.0 engine nxt week. cheers
Just because I keep talking about definetly doing it doesn't mean I'm actualy going to do it.

think it the same as the breather on the rocker cover.
did you manage to get the wiring off that guide?? I am screwed, tried to fogure it out but no go so far.

BTW just fitted the manifold and focus cable.
the cable is useless since you cannot adjut it so the pedal is on the flor, will need modifying.
the manifold sucks at best, rubs against everything which is very annoying <<< EDIT: I TAKE IT BACK

Here are some pics of my conversion.
I left top two port on the manifold and shut the other using small screwes. Now have to remove the screwes and fill the holes with silicone as they run on the metal bar (for the brake).
Cable too long, no adjusment...
Lastly I had to remove the pipe for the manifold and block it off, then transfered it to the last and only top hose on the back of the manifold using a T peace.

also you should flatten the manifold as much as possible behind, mine still makes contact sometimes

QUOTE: Since my site is currently down here is everything thats listed in the conversion. Its a tight fit with the but it will go in AND not touch or vibrate once fitted - I removed the engine lifting eye and cam phase sensor for the extra room.
Parts needed: 1.8/2.0 Focus inlet (Both the same), 2 wiringplugs off the focus wiringloom (I have listed which ones in the guide), Focus inlet bolts, fuelpipe, fuel connectors, vacuum hose, 2.0 Focus throttle cable.
This guide is for fitting a 2.0 Focus inlet manifold to the 2.0 Mondeo engine which is in my Fiesta SI. You cant use the Mondeo inlet manifold as it does not fit between the engine and bulkhead. By using the Focus inlet you gain a few things such as bigger ports to allow more air in, inlet is made of plastic so is lighter, ability to use top-fed injectors which are easier to obtain if seeking more power.
Start by removing the original manifold, if you compare the two manifolds together you'll see a few differences so you will need the focus wiringplugs. Make these changes to your wiringloom.
You will need to keep the old wiringloom and attach it securely in the enginebay so it wont get caught with engine movement. You will only need two of the Focus plugs and they are the ISCV plug and the Throttlebody (TB) plugs as pictured below.

Carry out the following changes before fitting as it makes it alot easier. The inlet is a tight fit and I removed the cam sensor and back engine liftingeye to allow for more room, just remember to re-fit them again. The Focus inlet bolts are shorter than the 1.6 ones and need to be used, I bought brand new ones from Ford for £2.70 so there not expensive if you dont have them.
The fuel rail has to be slightly modified by the fact that only one of the fuel lines will reach. You will need to use some fuel line and connect it from the regulator then neatly run it under the manifold to its fuel supply *NOTE* Make sure you use jubileeclips to maintain a tight seal. Pictures below of the added fuel pipe. Connect the new fuel pipe to the RED fuel connector (Return pipe), and the other pipe to the WHITE fuel connector (Feed)
The Crankcase breather runs back into the inlet to re-use harmful gases and it also helps atomise the fuel mixture by helping it burn better when the engine is cold. Putting hot air into the inlet is not everyone's cup of tea since we spend so much time getting cold air intakes, so it is up to you how you tackle this. You can either run a pipe off it to a breather filter OR connect it back up as Henry intended. I have removed it but its up to you. Here's a picture of where I mean. Its been blocked in this pic
The Servo hose will not reach the servo, you will need to extend this to fit. I used vacuum hosing and jubileeclips to ensure there would be no airleaks.
The fuel vapour hose needs to be blocked off, the 1.6 manifold doesnt use one. It is located at the back of the inlet by the throttle body. See picture
Fit the new inlet and the induction piping, you need to re-use the airtemp sensor off the old manifold - I cut a small hole in the induction piping and tapped this sensor into it giving it a tight air-leak free hold. You will also need to fit the 2.0 Focus throttle cable.
There we have it, job done
