Guide: One Touch Down Windows
This is a quick guide how i fitted my one touch relay (5 Pin from a MK2 Mondeo)
First you'll need a one touch relay from a mk2 mondeo along with a length of loom got mine from a local scrap yard for £5
I am doing the guide by pin number rather than colour as I dont know if all mondeo relays have the same colours but in case they are:
Mondeo
Pin 1: Black
Pin 2: Green/Orange
Pin 3: White/Green
Pin 4: Grey/Orange
Pin 5: Yellow
First connect the mondeo wires to the fiesta loom (drivers switch has the black plug as shown)
Solder the conections dont use those bloody conecctor blocks
Pin 1 ------> Splice to the large Brown wire
Pin 2 ------>Splice to the Black/Yellow
Pin 3 & 4 -->Cut Green wire and connect to the switch side
Pin 5 ------>Connect to the other side of the Green wire
NOTE: If doing it for the passangers switch (blue plug) cut the Green/Yellow wire.
Next mount the relay in a place where it wont hit the window mech. as shown above.
Next connect the loom to the relay and your done refit your door card etc and enjoy:)

As far as i remeber on the "4 pin ones" you only conect 1 of the 2 wires to the green wire from pin 3 or 4 and the "5 pin" you connect pin 3 and 4 :)

Re: Guide: One Touch Down Windows
No its just one touch down not designed for one touch up due to safty reasons as there is no load sensor on the motor so could chop small fingers off lol :)

Re: Guide: One Touch Down Windows
well if the driver is stupid enough to trap his own hand in the window he shouldnt be able to wire something like this up
on the other hand its a useful trap to keep hijackers from nicking your keys haha

Re: Guide: One Touch Down Windows
Jon... if there was a way of using one relay for one touch up and down why would I have purchased a relay for each direction? I've told you, as have various other people that you need a relay per direction.
They aren't that expensive either, grab them from a scrappy or search on ebay

They aren't heavy and behind the door card you don't see them. As long as the connections are solid and insulated there's no problem :)

Re: Guide: One Touch Down Windows
So what is the additional pin for? Doesn't make sense to have two pins go to the same place. Ford do some weird things sometimes but they're not that weird! Anyone seen a Haynes with the layout?

Re: Guide: One Touch Down Windows
The 4 pin relay works as follows:
Press switch down to move window down, press switch again to stop it. There is no incremental control
The 5 pin relay works as follows:
Press switch down and release to move window down. Hold window switch as normal to reach a designated height.
Its got something to do with the two stage switches in the Mondeo/Fiesta/Focus.
Press switch down to move window down, press switch again to stop it. There is no incremental control

Re: Guide: One Touch Down Windows
No probs. My ST has one touch down but on a two stage switch - push down a little for incremental control, fully for one touch. In that though, I believe the relay is in the switch.

Re: Guide: One Touch Down Windows
Just to check my wiring plans which also include electric mirrors, could someone verify this? Just wanting to power the drivers side mirror so far. The plan is a 4 pin to one touch up and a 5 pin for the better control for down. I'm wiring in a one touch up as I shouldn't be stupid enough to trap myself, if I was that stupid I shouldn't be driving!
Ok, here goes.
4 pin for up...
Black to brown on switch
V/o to bk/yellow on switch
Cut blue
Y/green to blue on switch
Y/violet to blue on wire
Different colours, but the pin numbers appear to be the same and the Haynes manual confirms it.
5 pin for down
As per above
E/M drivers side power only for the time being:
Red to bk/yellow on e/w switch
brown to brown on e/w switch
Obviously this power the control switch which is wired to the mirror.
Look right?

Re: Guide: One Touch Down Windows
Also, on the four wire relay it's possible to mod it to cut out on a lower threshold. See :
http://www.clickdesign.co.uk/supradupra ... indow.html
This may address safety concerns re fingers etc. I'd like to do some testing with a 10k pot and see what sort of setting is needed to cut out the window with someone trying to hold on to it.

Nothing to see here...
