They don't do Toyo R1-R's in 45 profile. You don't seem to be able to get any semi slick tyres in 195/45/15 so I'll be interested to see how these look as I was planning on going for the same.
Car looks great in the last set of pictures with the Mk5 bits, but cant see why you are going back to Mk3!

Perfect mate, this will finish it off. The Mk4 back end just doesn't go with the angular Mk3.
Look forward to seeing it completed.

Re: H543 HRW - Back to the body shop 24.11.11
Thanks for the comments guys
I dont think I'll be putting the Lagunal splitter on. I want to keep it relatively standard looking this time round.
Jay,
I can remember years ago when Paul's H702 DEG was featured in Performance Ford when it did 0-60 in under 5 secs. "Small Wheels, Big tyres". I'll be using my Fiesta for some sprinting next year and thought I'd give that formula a go. Picture of Pauls car. Broke 5 secs in 2003 I think.
Max
I also think the car looked really good with the MK5 rear. The conversion was done brilliantly but it just wasn't me , if you get what I mean. I've had the car for almost 10 years now and turn 38 next month. Although I haven't asked Santa for some new slippers and a pipe I just feel that an 'original' look would be better suited.
Sam,
Yes you're right mate. I forgot to tell the guys but I'll be doing them when I get the car back at the end of the week. They've carried out everything I've asked for fantastically well but I didn't want them to spend more time taking them off again and swapping them over. Just thinking about their time. They've got so much on at the moment.
Mark,
Exactly what made me change back. The Mk4/5 rear looks really good from the back, square on but its just not right when the straight edges of the MK3 come into view.
Got sent some more pictures today. Think its coming on nicely. Pleased with the wheels. Really suit the car and the colour but it definately needs the coilovers wound down some. Body kit and tailgate go on tomorrow. I'll be putting on the rear Fiesta Rs Turbo sticker and a Ford badge and I'm still trying to locate a standard FRST bonnet. Mine had the swage line filled in years ago so thats the one thats been fitted at the moment. Ford badge to go on the front in due course.

i see, thats one way to look at it, be interesting to see if there was any differences between the 45 and 50 profile though.
thing ive found with 50's is catching, i got some ones many moons back and has issues, but that could of been the fact mines 7 wide where as most are/were 6.5 inch wide...

These are also 7" wide, but the 17's i had on had wider 205 tyres and i didn't have any problems. My arches have been cut and stretched so fingures crossed i should be able to get a nice low height at the front with the back slightly higher.

The intercooler was made for me by Radtec in Cannock. I gave them the size i wanted and the made it with a matching radiator.

Re: H543 HRW - Back to the body shop 24.11.11
Andy,
I hear you were running 205 width tyres with 17's. How did you get on with that? Did you get any rubbing?
I'd be going for 205/40/16 if I could get a decent tyre in that size.
Cheers,
Mark

Re: H543 HRW - Back to the body shop 24.11.11
Mark,
To be honest very few problems with the 205's. They were R888 too which do come slightly wider and higher than some tyres. The arches had to be modded though. If you look at these pictures you can see how the arches were done.
A lip was folded and pulled outwards to strengthen the arch. This left adequate room for the wheel and tyre combination. Only reducing to 15's 'cause I now prefer the look. I was using a 7" wheel with an offset of ET37 but I had to use a 2mm spacer as the top of the wheel rim was just touching the coilover. The support bracket for the arb drop link is welded on the front face of the Avo coilover (picture 2) and this is where the rim was fouling. Wouldn't of been a problem though on a normal shock as they are slightly thinner than the coilover body.
The wheels just touched the inner arch on full lock. No rubbing though whilst driving under any hard cornering, acceleration or braking. My new wheels are ET35 but I still need to use the spacer as although the wheel rim sits underneath the arb drop link bracket being that they are a smaller diameter its the bulge of the tyre that now fouls. Tyres didn't foul before because they sat above this bracket.
Hope that makes sense.

Nothing at all to the rear but i am running rs2000 rear disks so thats made the rear track slightly narrower. Your et38's should be ok then.

Took some pictures yesterday, i'll see if i can post them using an ipad. Wont be home until tomorrow night and gavent got access to a pc at the mo. Not quite finished yet though. Took a standard ft bonnet to get painted yesterday and i've got to wind the coilovers down some now that i've downsized wheel from 17's to 15's.

Re: H543 HRW - Back to the body shop 24.11.11
Here are the pictures i took yesterday. I think it looks fantastic. I had an idea of what i wanted before the work was done but i could never of imagined the outcome. I know its a standard looking frst now but the finish brilliant. You can tell i like it cant you . 'Paintworx' did me proud. Its been painted in a Radiant Red base with a clear laquer over the top. The red is so deep and bright. I took a picture of the 'sleeman brake kit' and you can see that the ride height is way to high at the moment so if i have time on Sunday i'll get this sorted. I also need to shorten the tailpipe which was originally modded to suit the zetec s bumper i had on. The battery box and rear strut brace have been painted the same colour as the wheels. Standard bonnet to go on over the next week or so. I dont think the smoothed one suits it anymore and will be sold. The Fiesta is currently parked up at the back of my shop (need to clear my garage out) so the pictures arnt ideal. I'll get some more pictures up when the suspension has been sorted with a nicer loaction for the background.

Cheers max, yes the side repeaters are still missing, had them removed last time. The only exterior mods now are the smoothed wings, mk4 ariel base (mk3 ariel still screws on), euro near side standard rear light (fog light instead of a reverse) and the cut out on the front bumper for the fan has been filled.
