H647 MEV FRST Restoration Update 26/1/13
Hi guys,
Just thought i would start posting my second FRST restoration.
Basic history of the car was last tax'ed in 2003 and has been stored as a project and i got the shell from a fella down in Barnsley.
I am based in in Durham so £135 later transport...car in its temperory home.
Shell has had some work done, welding done on sills, pass footwell and filler cap has had some work done.
But is a very solid shell, hence i snapped it up from the mercy of the dreaded CRUSH.
Plan is to restore to standard and make it a very tidy but usuable FRST.

So got into it today,
Interior first, got sound deadening, carpet, front seats.
To do: heater matrix, heater pipework etc and dash back in.
Also run all the wiring back in; some areas of the loom have been cut.....will work it out....when it doesnt start.
Bits to be sorted....
Some numpty has cut out the front slam panel??
Ambers on the way!!
oh and its missing an engine!! Details details.
more to follow..weather dependant.

The slam panel has been made removeable if you look you can see where it has been drilled to accept bolts. very handy for working on it.

Yeah mate,
I have the centre slam panel bit, and yeah it has been made removable, easy access but looks a bit turd tbh, so i have another slam to weld in.

Re: H647 MEV FRST Restoration
Update:
So been busy today,
1) Put car on axle stands and put in front inner plastic wings in.
Discovered a couple of surprises.........brand new discs, pads and rear hand brake cable
And not so happy surprise, dulux must do a radiant red? see pics.
2) Secondly started undersealing whole car, all sills/foot wells are really solid, still need to underseal rear, but rear chassis legs are solid as.
Plan...Finish off undersealing, collect parts, and install clutch/acc/bonnet release cables and put dash fully back in. and play with wiring.
Thanks any feedback would be awesome or any questiosn just ask.

the red brushed piant is most probably hammerite. what underseal are you using? i put a gravel chip underneath mine and it reacted with the hammerite and all peeled off

Just hammerrites, underbody seal with added waxoyl.
I didn't underseal over the red hammerite.

WINTERY UPDATE: 5/12/12
So my wednesday day off came...as did the snow.... but no weather was gonna stop my work on the Fiesta.
1) Cleaned up wiper motor, blower motor and scuttle panels.
2) Blower motor in, one multiplug and single plug to resisitor and cover in place.
3) Wiper motor in; one multiplug to motor.
4) Scuttle and rubber in.
That was all i could do today, after 2 hours in sub zero, i lost the feeling and use of my fingers, its only a bit of frostbite.
Questions comments welcome.

Re: H647 MEV FRST Restoration Update 10/12/12
Just a quick heads up mate.
On the loom part ,the big bulk part of the wiring goes behind the plated bracket and comes back out from under there between the two bottom legs..
The large rounded wiring part(cant rem name) on the left of the bracket in the pic..goes up on the bulkhead panel attaches to a clip behind the Plate. Helps it look tidier. If ya that bothered that is!!

Re: H647 MEV FRST Restoration Update 26/12/12
Final picture as she stands.
She is nearly ready for an MOT
I think i might leave the number plate there :lol
Things to do.....
Sort the F#@k wiring out.....decided to plug all my switches etc interior wise, without the dash in, to make sure all works etc.
Engine bay wiring needs sorting........The starter wiring, battery wiring etc has been well in truly messed with. need to sort that all out.
Run the rest of my water hoses/oil lines etc, put turbo on...........battery and see what the hell happens.

Update 30/12/12
So final update of 2012
Well had a nice dry day so decided to get back on with the Fiesta.
I bought battery from Halfords £78!!!! and i was ready to sort out this bloody battery/alternator loom!
1) Sorted out loom, see wtaer temp sensor, and fan wiring been cut (by previous).
So to alternator: blue wire (battery light) and large red connecting to starter.
To starter: Large Live - battery and connection from alternator
Also Small Blk/blu onto small copper connector.
Also large earth on starter motor bolt.
Hope this helps others rewiring looms cos it got me stumped for a while.
2) Got crossover pipe etc all on.
3) So time had come.......

1) Clock works......good sign.
2) Ignition on........still good.
3) Abs lights on, hmmm, need to take that bulb out for the MOT.
4) The beautiful sound of the fuel pump buzzing and the relays ticking....
5) And it cranks over!!!!!!
6) Only a couple of cranks cos i still need to sort coolant hoses, etc.
7) Checked all the rest of the wiring; indicators all work, passenger eleccy window work, drivers side doesnt, central locking works pass side not drivers, so think i have an issue with door wiring or an earth.
Oh and the boot pop works!!!!!

Re: H647 MEV FRST Restoration Update 05/1/13
Update: 05/01/13
So just a small update from today.
1) Finished undersealing rear arches.
2) Headlights and ambers in!
3) Had to somehow cough cough remove the old fuel filler cap as the guy i bought the car off had lost the keys....
New lock set required
4) Also noticed a nice little touch.. all my windows, headlights all have matching number. the only one that doesnt is the windscreen. but not bad for a 23yr old car.
Future plans: Still trying to sort out coolant hoses and then get boost hoses and engine bay all finished and get the car finally started.
Then get an exhaust and turbo.
Then finish off interior; get dash in.
Aiming for FITP 2013!!!!!!!!!
