heeman10 :Any more news on the smoke dude?

It actually annoys me how flat and bogeyish it looks in pics....it's a long time since I saw it but I remember how cool it looked - nothing like the pics!

Gutted I didn't get to come and see it, I will somewhere...some day...hopefully TOTB ;)

Its not doing it now it seems. so hopefully the chemical metal stud thing worked.

Yesterday I fitted the aero catches to the bonnet. That was a nerve-wracking time taking a jigsaw to a 350 quid bonnet but it went spot on. I spent this afternoon fitting the bonnet. I decided to use hinges as Ive had experience of fully removable bonnets. You either end up running them over when you forget they are behind the car or some chignut stands on them, or the wind catches them and they fly off into the distance. I already had some modified hinges I used to fit the kevlar bonnet I had. All I had to do was devise a method of marking out where the bonnet was bolted to the hinges. I came up with the idea of flaps of card which sat over the hinges. I then marked the location of the mounting holes in the card, placed the bonnet on the car and flapped the card over the bonnet. I was then able to transfer the marks to the bonnet meaning I got the holes spot-on first time. At the moment they a fitted with cap-head bolts but I' will make up some flush-fittings which will look a lot better. Sorry 'bout the crap pics, couldn't be arsed to grab a proper cam.

Some of you might remember a few starting problems since the rebuild, the plugs kept foulling. I've now stuck a set of new plugs in and it starts on the button which is a relief. I'll hopefully get it in for an MOT in the next few weeks so I can get the C8 RST plate that 's currently on retention transferred onto it. Then it;s going for a setup and hopefully get in some 1/4 miles this year. Might even make it to TOTB again :D

Looks a lot better than it does in the pics tbh. My camera-phone has the ability to make anything look $hit. I'll do some with a decent camera next weekend. Anyways, I'm not actually that concerned with what it looks like anymore, it's function over form these days.

I really like the look with the new bonnet on. Suits the rest of the colour scheme down to the ground, and if it makes the car faster it's win-win IMO. Top stuff! :D

A few months back I also fitted a Spal fan and moved the rad as space was at a premium, now have plenty of space between turbo and rad & rad and intercooler.

Got a few other bits in the pipeline but gonna keep them under wraps for now :D
