your my hero
that the original engine in there?
be interesting to see what times it can get with all that weight saved. was there a weight target you were aiming for? or is it just get rid of what you can

All looking very good, surely the way it's been bolted back together this time will be seeing a 25kg++ weight loss again?? Can we get some comparative weights on the tailgates? Looks quality

S1 :There's nothing left in the loom that doesn't need to be there. It's all been cut out from the fusebox and removed from the loom. All of the loom has been re-wrapped.
The reason for keeping the std loom is down to cost at the moment. I had spent so much that I couldn't justify the expense of a custom loom. There really is very little left of the loom compared to a std FRST!
good too know but in the limited picture the fuse box still looks awfully full.
~nomad~ :FezzR :
maybe your not being that anal about weight saving?
are you serious?
yes actually, the is difference between weight saving and being anal about weight saving, and it boils down to many things, and without knowing exacly all of Pauls plans one cant judge how far he's going to go; and of course his budget.
There are also other things to cosider like the "potential" new rules that will be coming into place for the 1/4 miles and wheather he is wanting to run in the events that the rules will be enforced apon.
but none of that should detract from how excelent the workmanship is and what an amazing car it will be.

the main difference between weight saving and being anal about it is simple
just weight saving is doing things like getting lightweight panels and stuff
being anal about it is finding anything and evrything that isnt essential and throwing it away.like filing away the top of bolts because they are weight

The fusebox is fairly busy, but AFAIK it's staying road legal, so needs:
Headlights
Indicators
Ignition
Fuel pumps
Tail lights
Brake lights
Brake light switch
Windscreen wipers
Rear fog
Reverse light
ECU
Windscreen washer
On top of that there are various gauges and senders etc, and all the related earths to the above, and relays, so it still comes to a lot even when you remove a lot of the original stuff. I removed quite a lot from my loom, that's not to say it's not still a pretty full-looking fusebox!

Been mocking up the Intercooler to see how it fits. Not too bad, I just need to add some decent mounting brackets on it. Bumper irons are on and im in the process of painting the morrettes black a' la' rawli style. Will see if they look ok. otherwise i'll leave the std lights in.

Correctamundo.
If you've ever picked up an XR/RS bumper you will know how much they weigh. They are filled with a high density foam plus a metal bar for the mounts. The bumper you see in the pics is just a shell with everything removed. The bumper mounts you see on the front panel bolt to the std points and allow quick and easy fitment/removal of the bumper.

mike_wall15 :I want to drive it!!!
SO THE F$%K DO I!!!
Since I bought it, I estimate I have driven it for less than 2 hrs. I dread to think how much time I have spent working on it.

It's at this stage that most people start to break for parts, so it's good to see you continuing Paul
I'm glad you've gone down this route too, it'll be thought of as your own car now, excellent way to stamp your identity on it

S1 :CharlieT :i don't like it sorry, car looks amazing but that intercooler ruins it
LOL, I'm building for performance, not so it looks good. Thats just an added bonus.
Why all the effort in spraying it a different colour then mate?
