Most of you know I've had an Escort RS Turbo for over 15 years. It was cover car on Performance Ford back in Sept 96 (iirc). The last time it was used was back in '98, I went to watch the touring car at Brand's Hatch and soon after attempted to go to Southend at which point the fuel pump relay overheated. It was taken home and left in the garage. More recently it's sat outside getting covered in crap.

Sadly the time has come for it to go, my urge for a white Mk2 Focus RS is great so I'm selling what I can to put towards it.

As she was back in the day.







And now!















First step was to wash off the years of accumulated grime, looks better already lol!





I then started to strip the interior, its gonna need a proper clean as it's growing mushrooms everywhere.







Surprisingly the floors are still totally rot free, a testament to the work that went into building it all those years ago.

















Last night I stripped down the Recaro's so I can wash all the covers, they are absolutely minging. Pics tonight. Next wil be a full shampoo of both carpets, I used two carpets in it as it quitens it down quita a lot.

Yes mate, getting a right buzz working on it again, I wont want to let it go but as you know, I really really really want a Mk2 Focus RS so they've all got to go. Well, apart from C8RST. And Y2PER, oh and my Mini Cooper. and the Volvo but seriously the rest are going.

Good to see she'll be resurrected chap. Was a very prescient colour scheme when you chose it - wouldn't be surprised if a few people reckon it's Asbo Orange! Oh, and I meant to mention to you, the feature we ran on it is actually going to be in our new 'From The Archive' bit in the upcoming May issue!

Yeah, there's a few around my way, they sound the nuts!

I got the ERST on 29K, IIRC it's on 47K now.

Its a shame it sat outside for the last few years. Should scrub up ok though, paints gonna need a mopping but on the small bit i compounded last night it still looks good.

I had to look up prescient but yeah I think it was one of the first in a loud orange, there were others about at the time that were done in Lambo orange but mine was a one off made up by playing around on a paint scheme. Its actually basecoat orange with coarse aluminium flakes in it. It's a bugger to paint as the basecoat is very thin. Excellent news on the archive bit, that should help to sell it.

No mate, was white originally, but was profesionally reshelled. It was sandblasted to bare metal, etch primed all over then undersealed with schultz before being topcoated. I'll get some pics of the underside when its all been cleaned up.

I'm just in the process of cleaning the recaro seat fabric in the bath, pics later

Whoever painted that back in the day did an amazing job! Goes to show that a proper job like that will last
Seriously love how there isn't a hint of the original colour and the 'new' paint has been sprayed on all the areas that most 'pros' wouldn't bother with.

Your bath's had an upgrade since the last time I was in it!

This car was obviously going to look good under the skin still. It's aged BRILLIANTLY. If it'd been done badly it would've been a pile of rot about five years ago, what a nice surprise to see it looking like that under the carpet What a shame Ford don't make their shells so resistant to rust from the factory! If only you'd shelled out £50 on a car cover hey? Looks like you're having fun making it minty mint again though, that should put a big chunk towards a Focus RS. The new car will look great sitting next to Y2 PER

I do a bit of work for the 'local' football team! I'm sure I could find a buyer in the football world for that plate if you ever wanted to sell it.

Made a bit of progress over the last few weeks. I have managed to dry out the soundproofing which now smells a lot better than before. With the interior stripped out I washed the floor down with a disinfectant to try to kill the musty smell. I used a capful of Zoflora in 500ml of water which I put in a spray bottle which I used to wash the whole floor with. While the carpet was out I used our Bissell on it and am surprised how mint it looks now!

With the interior out I removed all the door rubbers and gave them a wash plus cleaned out the door shuts. The dash was given a scrub with zoflora and then treated with Armor-all to get a bit of colour back into it.

I have chosen to stick the doorcards in with the Alpine door-build in, with subs, mids and tweeters-



All the trim has been scrubbed and treated to bring it up as best I can. Carpets are now back in along with rear seats, all trim etc. Only thing left is the front seats. They are all built up but it was pissing down earlier so didnt get the chance to put them in tonight. It also prevented me from getting any more photo's.

Exactly, theres a boot build in it as well, Ive made loads of space in the loft.

Im having trouble finding some trim parts, for some reason Ive got two lh speaker pods, two rh strut top covers and only one mirror interior trim!
