handbrake cables/drum back plates
whilst changing a beam for a friend today ive found out that the hole in the back plate of the drum for the cable comes in different sizes.. the frst beam had a small hole that the cable clips into and the xr2i replacement has a larger hole and a adapter... my choices are to take the back plates off the frst beam so the cables fit or find a cable with adapters...opinions please....

Re: handbrake cables/drum back plates
The ones with the larger hole are for the 3.5 I think, I had one like that when I put drums back on my rs from clarks old beam, I put some thick washers in to take up the space the adaptor should of.
Works spot on, and you know me jon, if I wasn't 100% sure it was good enough or safe I wouldn't if done it.
Anyhow, you might get away with a 3.5 cable, but your have issues on the side that has the adaptor fitted

cool sounds like a plan.a washer each side and then bend the tabs out to hold it in place

If the hole in the washer is too big then yeah bend them out a bit,
I had to cut a bit off the side in the washer that went on the inside if the plate to allow it to fit flush against the back plate if I remember rightly
