Yeah, tbh you can make it pick up a little quicker with an exhaust, and filter, but anything else isnt worth it!

Think that was Dave106Gti when he had his black Si. I think it had only exhaust and induction kit which is suprising.

If i remember right the Si was decated, had a 57i and also and very importantly had the EGR system removed! This frees up the exhaust gas flow through the manifold releasing quiet a bit of power!: D

Am yet to do it to my 16v 2i but im sure it should see me 5bhp :D

cheers

Yeah, it does give you a bit more power. My EGR has been removed too, as it restricts the exhaust loads as the 4 prongs sit right in the flow of the exhaust.

what about if you added kent cams rated at 12 bhp, surely the Si should produce 102bhp? and maybe add an exhaust like scorpian to push it up to 105bhp like an xr2i I would of thought?

zetec_si :My EGR has been removed

Removed how? Just by taking it out of the manifold. Or by replacing the manifold with one that doesnt have the four holes for the ERG to sit in?

you have the probes in the exhaust manifold removed and the holes blanked off (these plugs can be bought from fords AFAIK)

Whats the point of spending 500 quid on a kent cam set that wont even see XR2i power?

You can get a 1800 engine for about 300 quid!

More power for less quids!

Hi guys what does EGR stand for and what the hell those it do?
is it a simple:- take the system off pull the sh!t out, then blank off the holes?

what system manufactors would you guys recommend for a 1.6 si? full system, cat back, cat back with cat bypass?

thanks for your time :)

EGR= Exhaust Gas Recycler. It injects air into the exhaust to lower the emissions I think. Trouble with them is that they sit right into the manifold and bugger up the flow. What would be the point of me having a stage 2 flowed head and ruining the flow with the EGR. Holes have then been covered as said.
