i can't see nay pictures? all i see is a blue box saying fiestaturbo.com ???
where is the EGR located and is it a diy removal or do i have to get under the car or get it up on ramps? also if it is removed will the car still pass the MOT? or will it fail on emissions?

Just added a firewall mate? I think you have to configure it to stop that happenning. If its norton then I think you just add http://www.fiestaturbo.com to your list of sites in the advanced options.

Can't tell you if removing the EGR is a DIY job because I didn't do it myself! Soz.

removin the EGR is a DIY job. if u look at ur mainifold u will see four prongs goin into it. just undo the bolts on the end of the prongs and they will pull out. u will also have to undo the bracket holdin the box that connects to this rail. then blank off the holes that the pronds were in. u will also find that the box had a vacum pipe goin to the throttle bodie. i simply tied a knot init and cable tied it.

whoo hooo thanks for that info zetec_si, now i can see pictures!!! i don't understand why i couldn't see them before because iv always used norton firewall but i think i upgraded the version a while back and just thought that the pictures on the site had been removed.
question about the EGR if removed does it cause MOT failure cuz of high emmissions? and where can i get caps from to cover the holes and how much do the caps cost? also are the caps made of plastic? if thats the case then won't they melt with the heat??

as for emmissions im not sure cause ive had mine tested and it was well over but i had running problems which i have sorted now so i will get it re-tested and see but also have no-cat.

and no the caps wont be plastic. i just cut my EGR up and welded the orignal bolts up cause my EGR was fecked anyways.

well i suppose if it make an improvement in acceleration i can remove the EGR and put it back in during MOT time, now to see if ford have the caps and also to pop up the bonnet and take a look at the EGR for the first time ever! :o thanks Sunil_FiestaRS_16V for the info. did removing the egr on ur car make any noticble difference?

Hey guys!

Had my SI de-catted yesterday, I think it's improved things, slightly better response I guess when you put your foot down.

I've only done it because my CAT bust the other day and it had just gone thru the MOT, so the guy knocked the s**t out of it then put it back on.

The only disadvantage is there's a higher frequency sound that's ruinin my exhaust note! Like a raspy noise.

Got a Powerflow backbox and 57i too, I think the CAT's made the biggest difference.

My advice is to go for the Mondeo engine, it's not worth spendin money on the SI engine.

Take care ¥

cool not expecting too much but if i can get around 4-7 extra ftlbs of torque out of the engine through the midrange then its all good sice i go up hill most of the time around here with a fully loaded car so the additional torque will be beneficial.
does this EGR removal make the engine more freer reving or does it effect exhaust sound?
thanks again Sunil_FiestaRS_16V

it don't look good, i went to ford today to try and get the plugs for the EGR removal but they don't have them listed on the computer the guy was using. does anyone know for sure if it is ford that supply these plugs and if so does anyone by chance have any sort of part numbers i could use for order? (and possibly price?)

thanks

lol!, don`t effect emmisions, it just injects air into the manifold on over run, and cold start to lean emmisions out. remove it, cut the nuts off, dollop weld in em and refit the nuts with end flange still on em so they still seal ok. will pass an mot without it, don`t effect emmisions when u do the test

hmm u say bungs are bungs made of rubber? if so will they not burn up in the manifold's heat? or have i read wrong and are they copper made bungs? also when fitting do i have to do something special like use copper grease or wd40 the bungs? are the bungs just push in into the holes or do they actually screw in for a more secure fit?
also when i go to ford do how do i ask for them cuz the guy will start lookning onto the computer, should i just say to the guy to pull up a 1.6 zetec enging on a R reg escort 1.6 zetec and look at the manifold for the parts?

thanks for all ur help guys.
