Internet being one tool that apparently knows everythinghb69 :Was so nervous going there after the internet said my engine is due to expire
Make sure you open the sump plug now to bleed the oil system.

I know, but the hcs conversion isn't far off now, I just want the knowledge that I can run it without oil

If its any help, I successfully ran my old 1.3 HCS without oil for quite a while (without knowing) due to piston ring failure and it using all the oil. It did eventually seize, but I believe thats because I let it warm up! I think if I had run it cold and pretty much on the limiter everywhere from the moment it started up, then it would have been fine.
Remember, the key is to get the engine moving as fast as it possibly can as soon as it starts up and never let it get warm if possible. Putting ice cubes in the expansion tank can help keep it cool I heard from good ol' know it all dave down the pub.

jonyb4 :they go on the bottom end very commonly
most of them dont reach 100k
Bottom ends are very common to go on the ''fiesta zetec S'' because 95% of the owners of a that car rag the hell out of it and dont look after it.

Clark, stop misinforming people. All cars have to be ragged from cold otherwise you'll damage them. With your 2.0l engines that gave up in the MK2 were you being too gentle with them?

Henry, you can have my old 1.1 if you like? It's been outside for nearly 6 years now, and I've left all the ports open to allow the moist air to work its magic on the internals. The special coating it produces will definitely be beneficial to your requirements

Wouldn't let you remap it for sure, or I definately will need the chassis seam welded. From cold.

Re: hb69's ph1 Zetec S
Havent updated this for a while,
Did Castle Combe last month
Ditched it on the stand
Then left it for 2 weeks. Rotated the tyres today in preperation for next weekend, so took a picture of the welding i had done last month.
From this inside the o/s/r arch
To this
Does the job.
Hoping to have Waynes old 1.3 when he puts his new engine in. So quite excited about that.

Re: hb69's ph1 Zetec S
Last weekend I did my third track event in 3 months at Mallory Park. Which is a fantastic circuit, it has so much variation, dispite only being 1.3 miles long. Chicane, hairpin, loooooong right hander, a couple of straights and a hill are all involved
The car performed fine again, although is suspect the harsh use its had in my ownership is starting to take its toll on a few bits. Mainly the suspension, which doesnt seem to feel very direct, its still on the original motorcraft shock absorbers from what i can make out. Ive been told by a few guys on zsoc the top mount bushes might be knackered looking at how they are sitting too, so ive ordered them as they were only £10 with bearings. So will replace them when i get round to it and see what its like then.
I found a picture on the internet of me and steve going round the devils elbow
I dont imagine ill do a great deal else to it over the coming months. The weather seems to have sorted itself out and id rather be spending my money on other things

I like mallory although it used to be loads faster without the first chicanes.
I love Devils Elbow. I had an epic 100 mph off there once and only had a broken ankle to show for it

They didn't use the first chicane when we were there fortunately. Devils elbow is an amazing corner, the speed and the camber are amazing

Replaced the lower arms and top mounts this week, after much hassle with a not very good pattern part another one turned up this morning. Replaced a lower arm in 9 minutes, quite happy with that. That is all

Re: hb69's ph1 Zetec S
Had some trouble fitting the new wishbones, the o/s part fitted fine, but the n/s part wouldnt fit into the subframe. So I ordered another wishbone and sent the faulty one back.
Picture shows how the front bush sticks out just too far
The old wishbone off, looks knackered
The split old bushes
While i had the wheel off i took both arch liners off, and removed this pipe from inside the n/s wheel arch
Then i fitted a lower brace
Can see the new wishbone there, as my previous post, the new part turned up and fitted spot on, so thats them done.
Managed to hit a bit of flint in the road and chipped the brace already, didnt realise it was that low
Obviously where it is its blatantly going to suffer from the elements, but it improves the turn in nicely
Ordered some other bits for it too, and have some in my wardrobe ready to fit at some point
Thanks
