Have A 1.1 for sale. Bought in June 2000 as either fully recon unit, or low mileage one. (my guess is recon...)
Got the reciept for it and everything.

tunning one of these is pointless no?
my 1.3 is rubbish i wouldn't buy ANOTHER ONE!
plus the filters and backbox will do sod all for power really.
y not get a 1.6s engine in there? don't say insurance reasons as you are modding it and putting a diff engine in there ANYWAY!

with a 1.6s lump in there i would kill myself! the insurance company dont give a toss, cus i said it was a 1.1. cus 1.1s and 1.3s look identical, unless u take off the head. changed engine number in log book, so its all legal (kinda), plus they just wouldnt let me insure a car with a 1.6 lump in it. i would have to go 4 a different company that would charge me sh:t loads, and its money i dont have. plus i cant be arsed to find a 1.6s lump, it has to be 1.6s not XR2i cus i will never get insurance on it, there aint that many 1.6s festers around, so chances of findin an engine off one is even slimmer.
anyways i aint 2 bothered bout performance, more concerned bout the looks and the ICE, which is wot me moneys is going on at the moment.

Right first - YOUR INSURANCE IS NULL AND VOID!! - If i can remember the capacity of the head is on the block!!
Secondly - if you think you would kill yourself then really you shouldnt be driving if you can control the urge to lead foot then you could just as easily kill yourself in a 1.1 or 1.3!! (possably more chance in a smaller engined car - due to the fact you havent got power to compleate a crazy overtake that you may have tried!!!)
As for 1.6s fiesta's being rare - lets just say that the majority of Mk3's in my local scrap yard are infact 1.6s models + all 1.6 ford petrol CVH engines on carb are the same, hence i have an escort engine (the only diff being the ignition module!)
And as for insurance - i am 20 with 1 yrs NCB and a 50% fault crash and my insurance with all of the mods declaired is only £1000 (just under) TPFT in my name, which is only £200 od more than a standard 1.1 would have been!!
Dont wish to sound like im having a go mate but look at both side of the argument - the CVH is a much better engine than a HSC, trust me - i wouldnt have another one!!
