give it a damn good service and maybe drill the airbox - it's really not worth spending money on anything more.

I put a K&N air filter and a peco back box on my car, made it marginally faster, but you can't expect a lot from a 1.1 which is over 11 years old, only option really is a bigger enginer :)

Yeah i have given it a good service. Flushed the engine out, new oil + filter, plugs, leads, fuel filter, flushed the radiator through aswel added new collant. Tappets have been adjust which is much quiter now.

Iv got a powerflow back box and it doesnt really sound much louder only a little bit and iv extended the cold air feed pipe.

Would a de-cat pipe make much difference?

And is it possible to increase the fuel pressure on these engines?

dont bother with the extra mods i had a 1.1 fez spent about 300 pound on the engine i got a kent cam and and fitted k&n pepco system and fitted irdium plugs and ran on vpower got it to go alot smoother and was a different car to drive but for the money buy an si engine and fit that and trust me ull smile from ear to ear

then after 2 yrs fit a 2.0 mondeo engine i urge u ive wasted nearly 2k on mods that werent worth it and i could have bought an imported impreza for the same amount or got a 106 ralley fitted jenvyes and taken it to 170bhp lol

You've taken it as far as is economically viable mate. You could start doing head work, cam etc. but you'd spend more than you would by just dropping in a Zetec.

You could pick up a rotten 16v 2i for a couple of hundred quid and swap all the bits over, that way you'd have at least a 50% increase in power (more like 100%), a nice interior, bodykit etc.

Or you could spend the same amount of cash on gaining something like an extra 2bhp from the 1.1...

Trust me, it really isn't worth doing anything else.

then concentrate on amassing the parts needed for that rather than modify the HCS, it'll save you a fortune in the long run. :)

The question gets asked soooo many times that if you searched you'd find plenty of results

I'll say the same as what I've put in all the other threads too, there's absolutely no chance of tuning the HCS, you could spend hundreds and get about 2BHP more if very lucky lol. Best mod for it is to bin the engine and put something else in :).

I remember people on here going on about a car, that was a 1.1 that had everything done to it that you could think of and £1000s spent on it, it was as quick as XR2is but after a few months it when bang, because it couldn't cope. :(

Does anyone have a link to it, as i am sure it was on here?

I really wouldn't bother with doing anything else apart from the filter and a backbox that you have done, the 1.1/1.3s weren't designed to be tuned at the end of the day, as i have said already :P

I dont know where any of these bhp figures are coming from.

0.8bhp from fitting a k&n?
170bhp 106 rallye?
and so on. Estimated bhp increases arent worth the time of day, and those are so random is laughable.

For White Diamond, the best advise i can give you, to get any more performance from a 1.3 is to remove any excess weight in the car, this means seats, carpet,ICE,mats, the lot. Adding weight, like bigger wheels, subs and amps,xr2i bodykits will only slow you down. From experience removing all extra weight gives you a noticeably better power to weight, and does make the car feel quicker.

Iv got a K&N which i bought from halfords for £15  Now i need to get the crank case filter! I have a garrat turbo off a mk3 astra van 1.7 and i can get a manifold made for my car so one day i will try the turbo with a de comp plate see if it will actually work! what else would i need to do? Increase the fueling? Will need a custom inlet plenum?

You don't need a crank case filter thing, all you do is drill a hole in the bottom of the K&N filter, and put the already exsistant oil pipe into it, thats what the instructions say and it stops the stem valves drying out :P
