A lot of people don't recomend skimming the Zetec head though so be warned

To be honest I'm not overly sure as I don't have a Zetec so haven't been in the situation. I seem to remember it was talked about in Fast Ford a year or so back. And I know my local specialist head place won't skim a Zetec head, they'll do anything else to one but won't skim it.

basically depends how much you skim, a 1mm skim say is about 40 tho and would bring the cr up to about 11:1 (i think)
If this is on standard car/management and 95 ron fuel, youd have to be carefull of knock

unless your planning on running mangement and getting it setup properly on higher octain fuel etc, then i suggest you just get a very light skim just to even the surface

For higher compression ratio, you'd need to retard the ignition or use higher octain fuel.

im sure burtons do a thinner gasket 1mm? standard is 2mm i think? not sure cant remember

just dnt skim it too much lol

i only ask as i am planning on pulling the head off soon to change the valve stem seals as i have some white smoke coming from the zorst, not major i just dont like it. The headgasket is new so i am planning on just having it skimmed level to be safe and replace the HG and seals to try to stop my smoke.
Could you recomend how much to have it skimmed by and where in the southeast is a place to take it. I dont know anywhere round here that could do it. I am in surrey.
thanks again
