head unit connection

Postby taylor5788 on Sun May 20, 2007 11:56 pm

basically i wanna swap head units in my car, but the pins for connector block which goes into the back are too fat and wont fit into the smaller holes. is there a way around this i.e adaptors of some sort?

thanks

What he said. Don't be a butcher and cut the loom will you.

You should have got the connector from the iso to the head unit with it. if not, go to a stereo store and tell them you want the connector from the iso to the unit for your specific unit

the head unit in that pic is the one i want to put IN my new car. basically the holes in the ISO that connects into that plug socket are too small i.e the pins you SEE are too fat.

For example if your new HU is an alpine you will want one of these.

http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_stereo_spares/replacement_head_unit_leads/alpine.htm

It plugs into your iso connector and into the back of the head units different socket

Maybe you bought the wrong ISO converter?

A few details:

What ford is it?
What is your new head unit?
Are you swapping the factory for a new one?

the connection that u shown are availble in 2 different types...round and square pins...

its a JVC or Sony unit or something isnt it? u need a Sony loom (which is the same as a JVC loom)...this plugs into the back of the headunit, the ford ISO - Autoleads part number PC 2 08 4 plugs into the sony/jvc loom and into the Ford wiring

if your close to west london give me a shout and ill have a look at it if you want
