Headlight camcorder video was a success! *VIDEO HERE*

knuckles - Yep, that was the main problem really, having the lines of the headlight protectors across the screen. I don't think they'd show up, being so close to the lens, but they're made of softer material than the thicker 3mm sheet perspex I bought, and so have lots of very light scratches in them, which would've compromised the image quality. I have no birds in my wastegate!! I may have used one or two times the average weekly family expenditure for petrol, yes As long as YOU enjoyed it though, it was worth it
mike_w - Same here, I drove about a mile, then played it back from the headlight cam, watching it on the flipout screen, and was amazed at the picture stability and sound quality, just hearing it through the camera's speaker. Good results all round, though there is that distortion with chatter...
Gav - There's no air leak thank you very much! There are lot of sounds that maybe need explaining to some (yes, yourself included). The general sequence is:
1. Applying throttle, start to hear turbo spool up
2. If the turbo speed stops accelerating but remains constant there's usually a load "whoooooshhhh" sound, which is the throttle being held half-open, and the air rushing over it.
3. If the turbo speed stops accelerating then drops off suddenly you get the chatter.
4. If the turbo speed stops accelerating then drops off gently (i.e. slow release of the throttle) you'll hear a quieter "whoosh" sound, which is the dump valve recirculating air back round to the turbo compressor.
Hopefully some of that explains your concern for my "air leak" Gav
purple_fiesta - Thanks! More to come in the future no doubt!

Ok, hopefully James won't mind, but I've uploaded it to my web space, HOWEVER, I've known it to have some problems with largeish files, so I can't guarantee that it'll fully download.
Right click and save target as...

If the downloaded file isn't about 45.9MB, then it's probably not fully downloaded, but try your luck!

Yup. Worked a treat. Thanks very much.
That does sound rather funky, doesn't it?
They must be great roads during a hot day!

Alright James. As far as I'm aware, I have some stupidly huge insane amount of bandwidth, so it should be ok

Thanks for the comments everyone
I'll get more footage when I can - the weather's not great at the moment, and filming with the headlight cam is difficult, as it requires the removal of the standard (legal and operational) headlight, which means that filming at night is a no-no, and even filming in the daytime it would draw unwanted attention if I use heavily-populated roads. Some of the best video would undoubtedly be overtaking sequences, but the more cars are on the road, the more likely it is I'll come across one of those blue and yellow cars! I enjoy taking and making the videos because it gives a good idea of driving a fun car, not because I want to film myself doing 100mph through a built-up town. At the same time, I realise having a non-functioning headlight isn't legal, so it's a tricky one.
I aim to get my own webspace etc before toooo long, so once I have that, I'll upload some of my other videos for download
