Heat issue

Postby IronMax on Fri Mar 22, 2013 11:59 am

So as you all know the fiesta aint got the stock motor in in .... we now have a FE3N motor with a small turbo on it .....

the issue we have now is that the engine bay get flippen hot .... even with the RS vents we have it still gets flippen hot .... now the question is do i get a new bonnet and just cut it and fit in the Evo scoop to get more air in it or do i cut a slot ( vent ) in the front of the bumper to pull so to speak the hot air out of the engine bay ..... Sitting in two minds here ,,,, need some Helpful info as i am tired of fixing the bonnet the whole time ....

Would bonnet raisers be an option? That'll let a bit of heat out.

Then perhaps also mod the front end with some sort of gap and it should pull cooler outside air through the engine bay and cool everything down a bit more

Try using exhaust wrap on any exhaust piping inside the bay to keel the heat inside the exhaust and not inside your engine bay, also try a bigger/two smaller fans if possible with room you want maximum airflow not maximum power , also as fanny suggested I would elevate the rear end of the bonnet and create a better air flow from the front end so the air can pass through the engine bay rather than entering hitting the rad and getting warm then having no where to Go, no way you could create some extra vents at the front? I assume your running a adequate rad, and oil cooler ?
I have briefly looked over your thread but not in great detail so sorry if these answers you have already done or thought of

spot on, i run two 12 inch slim line fans with a switch so i can turn them on when i want, they keep it nice and cool, also maybe look at better thermostats :)

Also make sure the fans you use push a fair amount of air some of the cheaper fans out there are pointless fitting

With regard to fans, it's not the CFM you're interested in so much as static pressure (the push-through ability)
Nothing to see here...
