Hello from a newbie!

Postby Rossco! on Mon Feb 13, 2012 1:00 am

Hey folks, the name is Rossco! Im from Scotland and have recently bought a nice wee XR2i 1.8 Zetec.

I had planned on buying a cheap run-around for getting back and forth to work, so I can leave my other car for my wife and for the school run, but, I fell in love with this lil XR instead!! :D

Im not new to them however as I used to own one about 10/11 years ago and she was my pride and joy. Spent a small fortune on her, tarting her up etc but sadly, she was stolen!!! I did get her back but due to damage and a few other reasons, I had to part with her and it broke my heart. Got out of the car scene after that and moved onto bikes for a few years.

Ive also had some other Fords before all that but mainly small engines due to being a young age and insurance.

Bikes didnt last long after I was knocked off by a "lady driver" and with a young family, I decided to give up on them too!

I then got into parrots and even started up my own website selling parrot toys, food, perches etc

But now im here after getting a new XR2i. And after seeing how good condition she is in for a 19 year old car, Im kinda hoping I can hold onto this one for a little longer!

welcome mate, nice little collection you have had there

pitty about the bike incedent, was you injured?

bike faired badly

shes a nice looking XR, if your looking for more power look for the RS1800 engine bits to fit, will liven her up nicely, the cams inlet & throttle body, also the ecu are all thats needed to bring it from 105ps to 130ps :)

25bhp for less than £100!

Ye the bikes were fun and I was lucky with the accident. A woman had pulled out infront of me, God only knows how she managed to "not" see me on a bright green bike! I pulled the brakes, bike doen a stoppie then catapulted me over the car. The bike bounced off the car and cartwheeled across the centre reserve and onto the other side of the road. I was lucky to walk away with just some bruising due to wearing my full leathers and protective armour underneath. :o

My XR is mint mate. No rot what so ever. I had to repair the driveshaft seal as it was leaking and I had both bunpers and all the wheels off so my mate and I could get a proper look at it. Turns out that the chassis is Spanish and had been treated to a special wax oil and it is mint condition. No rot, never been welded and all original panels. there is a few of the usual car park dents and scratches and with it being red, you can see where the sun has faded the paint. Its going in this weekend to my mates body shop for some work on the dents and what little rust there is then im getting a full re-spray. :aviator:

The plan was to buy, fix, spray and sell on for a profit but im tempted to keep it if im honest. I may even get her sprayed white instead of the red!!! :D
