When he said throttle bodies i think he was referring to the type of one for each cylinder which cost about 1500 quid plus setting up which needs a rolling road, but your looking at 160 break i guess, which is mad. Why not get the cams of the RS 1800, and the larger throttle body of the same engine. I think but im not sure that the same engine was usewd in other model fords so it would make it easier to get the bits from scrappies. What i said may not be exactly right but it worth a shot.

moulder - no its not just that. the RS1800 has oil sprayed into the piston chamber which is diff to the Xr2i 16v. Excursion and Snake are the chaps to tell u the techy breakdown on this.
stu1800 - if u can find an RS1800 one that is, otherwise go for the 2.0 Zetec (i.e. Mondeo) as they are exactly the same.

cams, mapping in the ecu, throttle body, and the rs1800`s have oil spray jets pointing at the underside of the pistons for cooling and increased reliability...
The difference in bhp on the engines is crap, i would say the 2i 16v is around 110-115bhp and the rs1800 is around 120-125bhp
Best engine u can get is the 2 litre and stuff throttle bodies on it, u can get 170-180bhp with a standard engine as proven by Graham and his pukka MK1 fezz. Cams in the 2 litre are pretty wild as they are, its the inlet side of things and the map that restrict the engine. Head flowing is critical on these engines and it really does need to be done by someone who has done a few of these before and have properly bench flowed it.

Well iv just seen a 1.8 zetec out of an escort for sale which i assume is the 2i version with 105 break or whatever it is. I reckon that it will have to be either a tuned up 1800 for me, but if i can afford the insurance a 2 litre would be mad.
