Playing music last nite, sat at the traffic lights and put on the 33hertz track after 20 seconds the sub cuts out, oh i said i probably blown a fuse or summat happened b4.

First thing in the morning i pop open the bonnet to check the fuse, fuse is ok. hmmm???
The light on the amp is not comming on when i turn the headunit on. Buts

Check the cables are not damaged, nothings damaged.
its working bcoz its running my 4 channel amp too.

Checked the fuse on the amp thats ok

Im running a power cap, thats on and showing voltage

Im sure it cant be the earth cud it? Ive sanded down to bare metal and tighted the screw for the earth?

Its a VIBE sq 12 active subwoofer. Can anyone help me? :x :x :x

Ditch the power cap, it drains loadsa power from the battery and may have caused the problem when you started increasing the volume!
Also what amp is it as some have an anti-clipping sensor which shuts the amp off when the volumes too high

well i sent it back to mcr audio in manchester. He said he'll today test it, then fone me probably with a replacement

wen buying a new sub is it recommended to play it at half the volume for 30 hours or so? not just wack it 3/4 on the gain and 26 on the headunit on an alpine?

Ideally you want to get the amp scoped, and not just wack the gain up becuase it induces clipping that goes for the headunit as well
Its a fallacy that you have to break things in...things are designed to go from day one

Yea it is the same, TBH dont take this as fact but id say volume up 2/3, then turn gain up until it starts to distort or nomore than say...2/3, but as I say unless its scoped you really dont know

you really want an osciloscope and set the gains to a clean signla with no clipping. Also normally set it to the headunit three quarters up.
