Help i have an Alpine TDM 7544 6 disk changer

Postby Dan_C on Sat Jul 29, 2006 10:59 am

and i was listening to the 3rd disk when the track stopped playing and skipped for a few seconds and stopped again, it was like that for the whole journey on the way home on Tuesday and did it again with the rest of the cds. I don't know whether its the cd or the cd lens that's the problem.

Also will "home-made disks" damage the cd player?

I would appreciate any advice please.

Thank you

I wouldn't think that CD-R's will do any damage, My brother uses them almost exclusively in his car due to it playing MP3 discs. I certainly don't hesitate to use them either.

Sounds like it's aproblem with the changer rather than the CD's if happens on all of them. Might just need a lens cleaner disc to be ran through it (if they work in changers)

home made disks shouldnt damage it.
I'd get a cd lens cleaner (special cd with soft bristles on it) and also give the unit a reset then see how your getting on.

Thanks for the help, its playing fine at the moment, i think it could well be a dirty lens. I'll give cleaning it a go, do you know where i get these cd lens cleaners from?

I've just made another disk on a CD-RW, i read it could possibly cause damage to a changer, although loads of people have been using them and not really reported any problems.
