help ive got a whinning noise coming from engine!?

Please anybody put me out of my misery and tell me where this noise is coming from..it only happens when engine gets warm and when i boot it (current have 1.6 zetec turbo) the whinning noise gets louder until i let of accelerator,im thinking it could be water pump im hoping its not the turbo! thanks tom
