Are you using spring compressors for a start?

If they are front struts you need a meaty 6mm allen key in th etop and the turn the nut against that

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Ahhh you mean the suspension strut is still mounted to the car, and you've undone the top nut so far, gotcha!

It's the anti-roll bar (ARB) drop link that you're stuck with. You need a 17mm socket/spanner on the nut that you can see, and then on the other side, you need an open 17mm spanner. There's a rubber boot on the stud that allows it to rotate in its ball joint. The 17mm spanner needs pushing inside the rubber boot until you are gripping the flat-sided body of the ball joint with the 17mm spanner. Once you've got it on, you can undo the nut on the front :)
