Help. New sub and no knowledge :(

Postby davestyle on Mon Dec 25, 2006 11:49 am

Hey guys,

I got a 1000watt FLI sub from santa himself and I have a few questions.
Which output on my stereo should I connect to the input on the sub/amp:
1) Rear cinch Right
2) Rear cinch Left
3) Front cinch Right
4) Front cinch Left ?

Also the amp has connections for GND, REM, BAT.
I know the GND is ground. Dont know which terminal the BAT goes to on the battery?!? (any ideas) and Im lost on the REM conection.
The ultra tiny manual says its for remote turn on which I dont think my stereo has.
Anyone want to try make a few suggestions and point me in the right direction?

thanks guys

GND is Ground
BAT is Live Terminal on battery
REM is a blue lead that has rem (remote) this comes out of your aftermarket stereo. :)

I don't think my aftermarket stereo has this remote feature.
Though I did get a blue lead with the cable kit.

Suggestions ?

right you want plug your aux leads in the back of your aftermarket stereo and there should be a little blue cable with these aswell thats the remote cable that goes into the REM terminal on the sub and the other end goes to blue somethimes blue and white cable on the back of your stereo. Then you run you power cable from your battery to you sub at the BAT terminal this then should work.

I have the manual here and it doesnt have any blue connections, or mention of anything for remote on functionality.
It has an ISO connector which I wired into the cars speakers and power myself and 6 plugs for extra front/read left/right speakers.

The only thing I can think of is maybe using the electric aerial up wire in the ISO connector maybe? :-?

I always use the electric aerial up wire as my remote wire for my amps as its switchable on and off from one button on the headunit. Makes life so much easier than turning the sub levels down to off :)

Cool right so I'll use the blue wire for that.

Only thing now is which audio output should I send to the sub?
I already have front and read 2 running from the ISO connector and the head unit has 4 more phono style ouputs:

1) Rear cinch Right
2) Rear cinch Left
3) Front cinch Right
4) Front cinch Left ?

Any suggestions?

Proper headunits have a pair of Sub outputs along with the 4 you've mentioned, but as yours doesn't, would will have to plug the sub into both of the rear speaker outputs. This should work except you might then loose any rear speakers you have. :(

assuming your headunit has 2 PRE OUTS which are used toconnect amps up, you plug the rca lead from the amp to the rear one of these on the back of your head unit.
