Lowering Si 1.6

Whats needed as have just spoken to some gammon slipper at my work who thinks he is the man with cars!! Paxo Driver!!! Says all

he says that all i need are springs to lower it, but im sure you have to have shocks also afterwise wouldn't the spring just slip out!?!?

and also there are specific springs for certain cars you can't just put some random springs from a bmw onto a fiesta can you!!?!?

very confused and who best to ask than the Ford Fiesta faithful!!!

He is right mate, you can use just springs. Your right too though as you do need specific springs for cars.

All you do is swap the springs over.

However it's generally better to use a sping/shock kit as chances are your shocks will be tired so lowering will most likely finish them off. Doing this will be better for handling anyway.

HTH mate.

Can't comment on the Si as teh damper rates may well be different but on our 2i we found lowered springs with new (NEW being the key word) standard shocks gave very good results. Even on a 55mm drop we had no problems with the spring coming out of its cup.

Well My Si has broken 2 shocks alread being lowered 35mm lol.

I think one of the best you can get is lowering springs and the front and coilovers/shocks and springs on the back, the front of the Si's handles pretty well as it is, bit of understeer but its a fwd car so u know. :)

Coilovers are really not much use on a road car.

How on earth did you manage to break a shock? The only way I can see that happening is the use of sub standard shocks or abuse far beyond fast road driving

Standard Si (Zetec) shocks are excellent, if a little firm (seriously!).
