Help!!!!

Help!!!!

Hi i have a 1989 fiesta mrk3 5door
i removed the rocker cover and there is white gunk on about 3-4 of the rocker
i know this means the head gasket need replacing but how easy is it to do and what do i need to do it

it doesnt always mean its the head gasket...

but if you have a push rod engine, its very easy, once done you will need to re gap the rocker arms, there are several guides here somewhere on how to do that, otherwise its very tappy

As above, if used for short journeys it's common to get a build up.

100% agree. ive changed head gaskets for people that insisted after finding this and nothings been wrong with them :lol:

They are prone to it I walked away from a mk3 because it had loads of gunk but had only done 11k miles and kicked myself for it check for other symptoms like water in the oil and the header tank

lol i tried to sell one that had the buyer think the same... he said to me "you got a lot of problems there, good luck... "

but mine was only 87k

thanks for the advice
but now ive looked at the coolent hoses and it looks like water and oil have mixed somewhere
i found it in the coolent tank and their hoses?
