are you talking about small clip connector to trap wires
or round hub like things which are red and white

if youve got red and white ones these ARE preamps if not they work the same

You mean it doesn't have the low-lever outputs, only high-level ones for powering speakers?

If so, you need an amp with high-level input capabilities or a device that brings the high-level output down.

thanks properphatboy, do you know where i could get this device? would that mean i could still use the high outputs for the speakers, or would i have to use the speaker output for the sub?

That's the sort of thing. You can get them in Maplin, maybe Halfords, and probably loads of other places too.

As for using the high-level for speakers aswell, I don't really know. Have you got the amp already?

I have a Sony amp, 12" sub and box and stuff (panels at the side) to fit in a Mk3 for sale. 90 pound, all in. Will probably throw in some wiring too.

BTW, this amp has high-level inputs built in.
