If you are going seriously into trackdays or race in whatever class then it is worth using as it goes.
I know a few that use it when racing fiestas etc as it does maintain a tyre pressure that you want it too, tyre pressures can be set normal at say 28psi and after a few laps be at 36+psi which to a "proper" driver will feel different - hence it is worth adding nitrogen if your being serious about what your doing.
as for the nitrous - we know that was an error, would of been funny as it would cost you s**t loads to fill your tyres up with nitrous, and would not help you one bit - but then we already established that!
Adrian - can I have some of these magic beans, they sound great!

Here goes:
Nitrogen is a more stable gas than air under increased temperature.
As air temp increases it expands. The hotter the air in a tyre the more it changes shape.
Nitrogen doesnt expand as much as air so therefore so a car tyres shape doesnt change as much.
This is useful for racecars as it keeps more of the footprint of the tyre on the road hence more grip.
cheers

My mechanic only charged me an extra £15 to fill my sump with creatine. Apparently it gives the car more power, and it'll rev harder all the way through the range! :O I thought it was worth it while I was having the tyres filled with mercury and painting the car with Arabian soap powder, making it more slippery and taking at least 1.5 seconds off the 0-60 time! With the creatine as well...it's going to be sooooooo fast!

Wouldn't you if you told everyone you'd just paid £25 for...well, pretty much air?! (As has already been pointed out, Nitrogen accounts for 70% of air...) Ah well, I hope he enjoys it. Still makes me laugh the bit about "You do feel the bumps more"!!!

I've never heard of this until reading this post. If the assertion that it maintains pressures better under changing temps is true, then it may well be a good idea but your post invited ridicule simply because, in the same way that it was totally new to you until you were told, it was totally new to us as well!
It's just not something that you really ever hear about.
That said, I rarely notice my tyres heating up more than about 20ish degrees and that's only when I'm driving quite hard in sunny conditions.
Have you noticed any change?
