high compression zetec engine build info needed

Postby a__zed on Tue Oct 27, 2009 4:05 pm

Hey guys. Was wondering if anyone with their infinite wisdom could help me.

Basically I have a 2.0 zetec all nice and that with jenveys and a nice exhaust manifold. However I would like to get more power from it. Been looking at increasing the compression ratio and having the head flowed/cams etc. However I also have a set of Focus RS Pistons and rods sitting around. Was wondering if the RS pistons and rods would have a different compression ratio in a 2.0 silvertop to standard and would it be beneficial if not to then fit them and have the block decked to get the required c/r??

Also Iv seen a place that reckon they can build a 240bhp 2.0 zetec on bodies?? Does this seem viable or just maybe exaggerated figures?? Bearing in mind that they only want just over a grand for the head!

Cheers

240bhp is easy if you want even more it will cost you loads

You can't use Focus RS Pistons in your engine as they will lower the compression

RIghto. I was looking for 240 bhp anyway. Just bought a low mileage st170 engine, have jenvey throttle bodies, emerald management, Ashley competition exhaust and ARP rod bolts. Any other suggestions?? I was hoping to raise the Rev limit some what when I have it mapped

Thanx!

Steel rods, forged pistons. dry sump lots of head work and bigger valves but you will be a bit limited to cams

All that just to get 240 hp? I'm guessing the engines that are sold as 240 bhp for 1700 quid are crap then? Bit sceptical about the need for a dry sump too! Think I'll just have a go And see what I can get

cheers

Would anyone recommend the the billet oil pump gears for higher rev limit applications? Anything else apecifically i'll need to know if I raise the limiter?

Thanx
