The rad won't make it idle like that. It will be some thing like the ISCV or a block breather or it could be a very worn cam/head problem Your car should idle just less then 1k

Cold idle should be just over 1k hot should be about 900.
Clean ISCV, check for air leaks, clean throttlebody are the first things to do.

If you removed the battery terminals when replacing the rad. you will have reset the ecu which will cause it to idle high for a while, while it readapts and "learns" the correct values.

i didnt remove the battary and i checked for air leaks i found that the d/v hose needed to be tighter .when i done that the idle droped to about 1.9-2.

now its turned into an over heating problem.

i start the car up everythinks kool idel about 1-1.2k but after 5min the temp does do move at all.
then it shoots up passed red and the fan is not even on and the water starts to boil and then the fan comes on .so i switch off the engine
and it kools down but the temp is still passed red???

Your fan should come in before that might be the thermostat playing up. Don't let the car go into the red this will cook the haedgasket or warp your head so switch off before. Try the fan by using a small bit of wirer and unplug the fan at the thermostat switch and place the wire in the blue plug so it bridges the circuit the fan should come on

Think it 3 10mm bolts if you buy a new one it might not come with a gasket but it's a dead easy job
